Jim McFarland Joliet is an authoritative person. Jim has worked in numerous organizations and institutions such as the Chicago District Office of Education, Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association (on the Board of Directors), and The Commission on Social Development, well as a shelter for abused women/children, Department of Human Services. His primary responsibilities are to help people and provide help during a disaster by giving volunteers during the National Disaster Medical System. He is an assistant professor of social work at Triton College and currently serves as vice-president for the Illinois Community College Board. The Joliet native has also been an exponent for veterans, open space preservation, and animal welfare. Following an academic career that featured stops at Maine Central Institute, Bowdoin College, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he served as senior counselor to Illinois Commissioner of Higher Education Theodore L. A lifelong resident of Joliet, IL, Jim McFarland has always been a voice for children and animals.
