My Experience with a Root Canal Dentist

Mouth pain after eating can be easily caused by an infected tooth and even more so if it’s not treated immediately and properly. I had this issue and after some research, I found a Dental Sealants near me who helped me with my problem in no time! I decided to share my experience with other people who are looking for the same, so here it goes! (250 word count)

The Decision To Get A Root Canal

When I first heard that I needed to get a root canal, I was absolutely panicked. All I could think about was how painful it would be, and why someone would ever need to have one in the first place. After some research, I learned that there were two ways to go about getting my root canal: through traditional braces or through an OHAI (Occlusal Holding Appliance for Interceptive Therapy) flossing device. Traditional braces are used when you're looking to keep your teeth straight as well as change their size. The OHAI is something you use while wearing traditional braces but it's just used for interceptive therapy rather than actual movement of your teeth, which leads me to what my situation was and how I chose between them...

Finding An Affordable And Trustworthy Dentist

If you're looking for an affordable and trustworthy dentist, I would recommend using OHI-Flossing-with Traditional Braces. It's similar to flossing but it’s specially designed for people who wear traditional braces. By investing in your dental health now, you can prevent future dental problems and save money in the long run. I know how difficult it is to find an affordable dentist that isn't miles away from my home so by making good dental decisions now, I will have good oral health later on in life. Your teeth are one of your best assets so you should be sure to treat them properly while they're yours!

The Procedure For A Root Canal And Wisdom Teeth Removal

Before I was prescribed antibiotics to help with my infection, I had to have both my upper wisdom teeth and lower wisdom teeth removed. Once I recovered from that experience, which took about two weeks for me, it was time for my root canal. My mouth wasn’t completely numb during it, but it still wasn’t an enjoyable experience. Dr. Willoughby went in through one of the few spaces between my remaining permanent teeth where he could and flushed out all of what he thought was infected nerve tissue. He told me after that some of it had been previously dead so we would never know how much of it needed to be extracted versus just cleaned out. The first week after getting my root canal done was by far worse than having any wisdom teeth pulled!

A Week Later...

After our root canal and an appointment to see my traditional braces dentist, I am happy to report that things are going well. I’m back to flossing regularly, both before and after brushing. This is an important point because flossing does not replace brushing. Flossing removes bacteria, debris, and food particles from between teeth that brush doesn’t reach. It also helps keep teeth clean by dislodging plaque caught in tight spots in between teeth where even brushing can’t quite get at it. With time and practice (and regular trips to see my orthodontist), hopefully all my future dental visits will be as easy as getting a root canal was!

Four Weeks After The Procedure (Part 1)

I had four weeks until my next appointment and decided to call in for an emergency consultation at OHI-Flossing. The receptionist quickly transferred me to a dental assistant who scheduled an emergency appointment for me and asked me if I was having any issues. I said no, that I just wanted to follow up on my procedure. She took all of my information, told me she'd send over my records, then transferred me back to reception where they got a hold of Dr. Pearson right away. In less than five minutes, I received a phone call from his office asking when I could come in and what time would work best for me.

Ten Months Later...

There are two big mistakes people make when talking about getting Invisalign. First, it’s that they forget that braces are just one part of your treatment plan. You will also have to floss around your aligners every day (while they’re on) to keep food and plaque from building up behind them—and I highly recommend using OHI-Flossing while you do it. Local Dentist Open on Saturday makes it significantly easier: you get better access to hard-to-reach areas and there is less of a chance that you’ll rip out or snap your aligners (which happened to me more than once). Second, people forget about how long Invisalign takes.

Summary / TL;DR - what did you learn from this experience?

I had to get my root canal because of an impacted wisdom tooth, which wasn't coming out. Now that I am done and fully recovered, I highly recommend going through an oral surgeon for your root canal. The office was better equipped and were more knowledgeable than any other dentist or dental hygienist I have seen before. While it is expensive and will hurt, your teeth are worth it! You can also avoid future pain by flossing every day with Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Floss or Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Toothettes Flossers (both available on Amazon) because flossing removes food particles in between your teeth that prevent cavities and gum disease.
