Guide to Brisbane | Major Attractions and Things to Do

Popularly known as the capital of Australia’s Sunshine State, Brisbane is all about the outdoors. If you are visiting Brisbane, there are some amazing things you shouldn't miss.

Things to Do in Brisbane

Taking a picnic break with your loved ones is a great way to reconnect with each other as well as the majestic outdoors. Get out to the waters for a memorable Brisbane river cruise with your family or friends for a perfect outdoor experience. These cruises often take the most scenic route and serve up fine food, drinks and sometimes entertainment. Brisbane is also called the River City for a reason, as the Brisbane river is itself a landmark that snakes through the central suburbs. If you’re in the mood for a party, you can maybe choose a party boat in Brisbane to have a splendid and glamorous day out on the waters. There are three major areas surrounding the river: Central Brisbane, South of the River and Northeast of the City Centre.

Central Brisbane: is where some of Brisbane’s oldest buildings and its most ambitious developments can be found. From grand colonial-era buildings and museums to shopping malls and offices amidst towering skyscrapers, Central Brisbane is one of the most happening regions in the city. The South Bank precinct houses the city’s major cultural institutions as well as dining and entertainment options. Here, you will also come across a stunning man-made beach, the famous Victoria Bridge which is pedestrian-friendly and more.

South of the River: consists of areas surrounding the South Bank precinct that are both residential and eclectic. This part of the city is popular for its upscale eateries and ancient buildings. There are many award-winning restaurants here that specialise in modern Australian cuisine. The famous Story Bridge and the Kangaroo Point are both located on the South Bank in Brisbane. This area is also known for its heritage-listed cliffs that are famous among abseiling and climbing enthusiasts. Kayaking and biking are also a popular activity.

Brisbane is home to some of the most prominent Indigenous groups in Australia, including the Torres Strait Islander cultures. Experiencing the Aboriginal culture here is in fact a glimpse into the past—unravelling the history and culture of Brisbane and its surrounding regions through the eyes of its traditional custodians. A stunning immersive and theatrical experience is the ‘Spirits of the Red Sand’ that includes Aboriginal storytelling. The Blackards Cultural Tours is another unmissable experience that will allow you some moments of understanding with the world’s oldest living culture. Experience the authenticity and warmth of the culture of the community in Brisbane. Also, while you’re here, do pay a visit to the North Stradbroke Island to witness the Quandamooka dancers.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Brisbane and get a wholesome experience of this stunning river city of Queensland.
