Macramé is a French word that means ‘knot’. A century-old knotting technique macrame thread that was prevalent in the 1970s as a home decor trend.

It is a form of textile art which weaves you into its story since it’s purely done by hand, without needles, and by weaving threads or cords together into simple as well as intricate knots.

Macramé thread is back in style, providing a comforting texture to white walls and has become way popular again in the last few years as a beautiful accent. There are more than 50 types of different knots. The craft requires only inexpensive and accessible materials like cotton strings, hemp, leather or yarn, with various glass or wooden beads to enhance and dyed threads to contemporize the pieces.

This versatile form of fibre art can be used to make everything from wall hangings, plant hangers, lamps, votives, dreamcatchers, seating, soft furnishings to other decor items and even accessories like jewellery, bags et cetera.
