Getting visibility for the brands will require a strategy. A tailor-made strategy is required for every brand. Since there are many brands vying for eyeballs, the perfect plan will depend on the type of online platform through which a brand needs to be promoted. Promotions online can be organic or paid. Organic promotion can be further broken down into promotion through earned or owned content distribution channels. A content distribution strategy needs to be chalked out to use the right kind of promotion.

Distribution through owned channels, a kind of organic promotion, is not difficult. Owned channels may include a website owned by a company, a company’s blog, social media accounts, or even mobile apps. Engaging email newsletters with infographics, videos, and images are good for connecting with the audience.

Getting promoted on earned channels is not easy, but it is worth it. As it is more credible, they can do wonders for brand promotion. Earned channels include newspapers, guest blogs, social media groups, or podcasts. Social media groups include LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. Content distribution strategy through social media for promoting the content depends on the format and type of the content.

When the content has visual elements, it is best to use Instagram. At the same time, when the content is more profession-oriented, it is better to use LinkedIn.

If a client is willing to spend on promotion, paid promotion can be used. The content distribution channels used for paid promotion include pay-per-click, paid social ads, sponsored content, and paid influencer marketing. The content distribution strategy for paid promotion requires knowing where the target audience likes to spend their time the most. For instance, in paid influencer marketing, one will have to decide the influencers depending on the activity of the target audience on social networks, blogs, or other media.

Metrics will keep the content distribution focused for brand awareness. Analytics is being used widely to measure earned and paid content distribution efforts. There are KPIs that will help a client keep on the right track.

So, which one is better for content distribution? Organic or paid content distribution channels. While organic channels have their own advantages in generating leads, paid channels can help get conversions. Whether it is organic or paid, engaging content is not the only thing that is required for promotion. The format and type of the content should be appropriate for the distribution channel that is chosen for it.

While strategies may differ, an accepted method for brand promotion is to use inexpensive channels like owned or earned channels first. After measuring the impact of organic promotion, a company can then choose paid channels.
