Oil and Gas Industry Risk Assessment | Reliability Centered Maintenance - Wipro

The criticality and risk assessment (CARA) method serves as a comprehensive approach for developing an understanding of asset criticality and risk. It includes a step for classifying assets based on criticality and the risks associated with failure. This enables companies to apply resources towards managing the risks of the assets with the highest ranking. Wipro’s Energy Asset Management (EAM) practitioners offer a proven consulting approach to help companies conduct CARA-based evaluations and establish the groundwork for subsequent initiatives and analysis such as Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Risk-Based Inspections (RBI).

Pre-defined tools assist in the execution of the evaluation, while enhancing visibility and understanding of assets’ criticality and ranking and increasing confidence in a roadmap to condition-based maintenance. Wipro's oil and gas risk assessment solutions enable enterprises to conduct CARA-based evaluations, establish evaluations and analysis through reliability-centered maintenance Wipro helped the company migrate its on-premises data center to an Azure (AWS) cloud solution. The effort began with proof-of-concept project to extract data from source systems and move them to the cloud PI ecosystem. An important aspect of the effort was leveraging the company’s enterprise agreement with OSIsoft PI to build a robust PI ecosystem; Wipro helped the company upgrade its PI components to enable end-to-end data flow from source systems to the cloud. The engagement included integrating interfaces and business critical applications; the Azure cloud standardized connectivity and replaced high maintenance, code-based custom connectivity the company has historically used.

All told, Wipro managed the connectivity challenges and migrated more than 40 business applications using a rigorous automation process (using transfer tools and scripts) to get the work done fast. The project also involved a redundant set-up to ensure no applications were down or unavailable during the cloud transition. The engagement also led to more robust application security thanks to the adoption of Windows Integrated Security (which is recommended by OSIsoft). An Agile methodology also accelerated the migration process.
