Boom Curtain; Used To Protect the Contaminated Environment from Sediment Control

Boom curtain, or curtain booms, are impervious (non-absorbent) oil containment booms which feature a large circular foam-filled chamber above the water, with a weighted continuous skirt below the surface. Curtain booms are used to control the spread of oil to reduce the possibility of polluting shorelines and other resources. Although they are used as temporary measures to hold or divert oil, improvised booms can be an effective way to deal with oil spills, particularly in calm water such as slow-moving rivers, streams, or sheltered bays and inlets. Different types of boom curtains are available, such as fire booms, foam-filled, inflatable and self-inflating, and trash and debris booms. Each designed for the containment of a different kind of spill.

Booms are temporary floating barriers used to contain marine spills, protect the environment, and assist in recovery. Floating booms can be used to form a barrier to intercept debris, aquatic plants and algae, trash, and even marine life. Silt curtains (or silt screens or turbidity curtains) separate an area of dredging work in a port or elsewhere from more sensitive areas. Oil spills are a big problem that needs quick and easy solution. Boom curtain is a portable oil containment device that can be easily deployed and stored in a storage tank. They are light and durable and have a high float-to-weight ratio. The curtain boom is a popular choice for combating oil spills and are widely used to protect contaminated environment.
