The State of UI/UX Design in Mobile App Development: Trends for 2022

In the era of mobile apps, user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design are two major aspects of mobile app development. As technology moves forward, these two crucial elements of mobile app development will change with it. To best understand how mobile app development trends will shape the future, let’s look at what UI/UX design means now and where it’s headed in 2022.

Trends in UX Design for 2022

UX design will grow more prominent, and mobile app development services will need to focus on aesthetics, usability, and pleasing visual cues. Apps with an attractive design will likely attract a more extensive user base and gain more attention from app store algorithms. UX designers are growing more important as mobile app development companies shift towards making products more beautiful than ever before.

1) Voice Experiences

The future is voice. Voice experiences are becoming increasingly important to all types of organizations, particularly mobile app development companies that are working on developing a world where people use their voices as much as their fingers to interact with a device and its software.

Voice Experiences is no longer optional. Consumers expect to interact with your apps by voice, and their mobile app development companies are already preparing for it. For example, Google Home had over 10 million devices sold in December 2017. That’s a lot of people interacting with a device that only listens and responds to commands—no typing required! People want to talk to their devices more than they want to type at them. For example, Siri has been around since 2011; Alexa has been around since 2014; Cortana launched in 2015; Google Assistant came out in 2016; Apple released Siri on macOS High Sierra earlier this year.

2) Designing for Healthier Relationships with Technology

Technology has a major impact on our relationships, but what would it look like if we designed technology to help us foster healthier relationships? To explore that question, I started researching what types of technologies already exist and how they are impacting people’s lives.

So, with those facts and stats in mind, I thought about how we could design technology to support healthier relationships. Given that most people’s phones are always close by — whether they’re at home or sitting across from someone at a restaurant — it seems like a phone would be an ideal place to start.

3) Deeper Personalization with Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Machine Learning (ML)

With mobile app development services becoming more sophisticated and AI and ML solutions maturing, we can expect better personalization for users. Soon, businesses will no longer treat their customers as a part of a crowd. They will see them as individuals. The interactions between companies and their customers will be highly personalized and capable of solving customer problems, reducing churn, and increasing revenue.

4) Designing for Consistency between IoT and Wearable Devices with the Cloud

Before you invest time and money into wearable devices, have you considered how these new connected wearables will affect your business? Will they create an entirely new digital ecosystem or add a layer to your existing one? When designing between IoT and wearable devices with cloud-based mobile app development services, what should you consider? How can one business benefit from using two different device types to gather data simultaneously? We can evaluate how wearables can be seamlessly integrated into existing applications by evaluating both hardware and software.

5) Coding becomes a part of the Design Process

If you are a developer or designer, there is excellent news. It has become clear that design and coding are not opposites but two inseparable sides of one coin. The future belongs to people who understand what designing and developing mobile apps entails. 2019 saw Apple make huge advancements in its tools and processes to bring together design and development.

A design process without code is like a car without gas. Code has become just as important to design as development, allowing teams to function efficiently. Each step in your design process can be codified and automated with tools such as Macaw, making it easier than ever before for designers and mobile app developers to work together seamlessly. It’s no surprise that Apple recommends these tools for their prototyping phase within Xcode.
