The advantages of NB-IoT:

Massive access: Under the same base station coverage, the NB-IoT technology is 50 to 100 times the number of other wireless technologies. The existing NB-IoT network single-cell base station can access 50,000 terminal devices. Make the Internet of Things truly the "Internet of Everything".

Low power consumption: NB-IoT has three different power-saving modes: PSM mode, DRX mode, and eDRX mode. The device can choose the power-saving mode according to its own needs to achieve the purpose of minimum power consumption and prolong battery life. For many devices and situations that use battery power, the low power consumption feature of NB-IoT can ensure that the battery life of the device can be greatly increased from a few months to a few years, thus greatly reducing the inconvenience caused by frequent battery replacement.

Super strong coverage: NB-IoT's coverage capability is 100 times that of LTE. The NB-IoT network has a large coverage area and strong penetration ability, which can not only meet the large-area coverage requirements in sparsely populated areas but also apply to underground applications that require deep coverage.

Low cost: NB-IoT supports transformation of the existing LTE network, which greatly reduces the network construction cost. NB-IoT does not need to rebuild the network, and the radio frequency and antenna can basically be reused. The low power consumption, low bandwidth and low speed of NB-IoT also reduce the cost of chips and modules.

Disadvantages of NB-IoT:

Less data transmission: Based on low power consumption, NB-IoT can only transmit less data;

High communication cost: In addition to the price of the NB-IoT communication module, operators will also be charged operating fees;

The technology is not mature: Although NB-IoT technology is widely used, in the actual application process, various faults often occur, resulting in communication interruption;

Problems with the docking platform: Telecom's IoT platform adopts the CoPA protocol. The CoPA protocol is complicated in terms of docking. In order to be compatible with traditional TCP and UDP communications, the construction time is often too long.
