OTRE PRINCIPLE STATEMENT
The Organization of European Road Transporters (OTRE) has its roots in the history and values of road transport professionals, values of solidarity, courage, rigor and pride in the work accomplished.
The OTRE endorses the republican values of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.
OTRE was born from the desire of road haulers, anxious to promote these values within an organization specifically dedicated to the defense and sustainability of companies in the branch.
It resolutely positions itself as a professional organization favoring permanent dialogue with its members. In the same spirit, it is in contact with the public authorities and other transport players working on all the fields of the national collective agreement for road transport and auxiliary transport activities.
It claims the defense and support of transport truck booking, an essential element in the economic activity of the Nation, in the development of exchanges between people, in the added value to the growth of employment and the development of the territory with concern for the respect of the environment.
It affirms, finally, and in this context, its European attachment in an assumed social and technological harmonization, ensuring to each company of the Union a free and undistorted competition.
PRESENTATION OF THE OTHER
The OTRE, Organization of European Road Transporters, is a professional federation founded in 2000. It is made up of OTRE territorial entities and sectoral structures such as USP Values for the road transport of funds and values; the FNAA and the FNMS for medical road transport; the CSNERT for the private public road transport of people (VTC).
The OTRE aims to defend the interests of French SMEs with heritage capital, whose company director manages the company. The defense of these companies involves taking into account a French transport market included in a European market due to the geographical location of France, the most crossed and most sabotage country in Europe.
In union work, the OTRE has achieved several successes:
2003: introduction of professional diesel. After two years of work, the European Commission agrees to define a diesel rate for professional use in a directive. Road haulers benefited from the same diesel tax rate from 2003 to 2015.
2005: reimbursement of VAT on motorway tolls. Against the advice of the Minister of Finance who had taken an amendment to the finance bill to prohibit the reimbursement of VAT on motorway tolls between 1996 and 2000, the OTRE had obtained the cancellation of this amendment by the Constitutional Council, extremely rare. This action allowed road haulers to be reimbursed 1.5 billion euros for the period covered.
