How to Install LED strip Lights

Use a wire stripper to remove 1/2 in (  1.3 cm) of sheathing from each wire. Measure from the end of the wire you plan to use. Then thread the wire between the jaws of the tool. Press down until it penetrates the casing. After removing the casing, remove the remaining wires.

If you are using new wires, separate both ends to prepare them for soldering. If the wires are already attached to a connector, simply strip the loose end.

While you can also cut the casing with a sharp knife, be careful to avoid puncturing the wires.

Wear protective clothing and ventilate the area. Welding releases fumes that can be annoying if you inhale them. For protection, put on a dust mask and open nearby doors and windows. Also, wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from heat, smoke, and metal splashes. [12]

You can also wear heat-resistant gloves, but it may affect your ability to operate the soldering iron.

Keep people and pets away from the area until it has cooled down and remove the soldering iron.

Wait about 30 seconds for the soldering iron to heat up to 350°F (177°C). At this temperature, the soldering iron will be ready to melt the copper without burning it. Soldering irons get hot, so handle them with care. Put it in a heat-resistant soldering iron stand, or just hang it up to heat up. [13]

Try using a soldering iron with a power rating of 30 to 60 watts. It will get hot enough to melt the copper, but it probably won't burn it.

The heat from the soldering iron will be notified when it is heated. Keep it away from flammable surfaces until it cools down again.
