Two Things You Should Have Known Before Booking Your Cottage Vacation

Few people would need to try to convince us that the majority of people today book their vacations differently than they did, say, 10 years ago. Or even five years ago. With the advent of the internet, you can now research destinations, evaluate options, and ultimately book your trip from the comfort of your own home. Travel brochures, guidebooks, and even travel agents can be a thing of the past if you so desire.

However, consider this: are you taking full advantage of the opportunities that the internet provides? Are you certain, for example, that when you book your vacation, you're completely bypassing the middleman? Anyone looking to book a UK cottage holiday should consider the following two points.

1.      Did you book directly with the owners?

Even if you book your cottage online, there's a good chance you're still using a booking organisation. An agency that can charge the owner of "your cottage" as much as a 25% commission! Aside from the fact that this commission is eventually charged back to you in some way, the main issue for you is that you are likely lacking out on the best cottages.

Why? Simply because cottage owners now have access to a plethora of online portals that provide significant exposure to potential customers for a small annual fee. So, whoever is still willing to part with a quarter of their revenue either has a subpar product or is simply sleeping. Or you could do both. Using a booking agency, in other words, increasingly means missing out on the best Lettings holiday obtainable.

2.      Did the webpage show you that you were available?

This may appear to be a minor point, but believe me when I say it isn't. To begin, a cottage with limited availability will, in most cases, give you an immediate indication of its quality. Second, people who own and manage a high-quality and famous set of Lettings holiday would not like to waste their time, or yours, responding to endless amounts of inquiries when they are unable to accommodate them. And believe me when I say that a good holiday cottage can achieve (near) 100% annual occupancy.

Showing accessibility on their website is a great way to accomplish both of these goals, and anyone who owns high-quality cottages with high occupancy is a fool not to do so.
