Linksys Velop Setup

We’ll discover a simple approach for setting up Extender as a Linksys access point in this post, and we’ll answer the topic “How to Setup the Linksys Extender as Access Point.”

To begin, a brief explanation of what Access Point is for those who are unfamiliar.

The term “access point” refers to a method of configuring your access point or router. This means we can connect several devices to this unit or use it to build up multiple Range Extenders.

  1. To begin, make sure the Range Extender’s slider button is not on the side designated EXTENDER, but rather on the side marked ACCESS POINT.
  2. For example, if you want to set it up as an ACCESS POINT, you must be on the ACCESS POINTS side.
  3. Connect the LAN port of your Linksys Range Extender to the LAN port of your router.
  4. In this stage, you will just log on to the default setup website for your extension.
  5. You can also do so by directly typing the “default IP address” of your Linksys Extender into the Address bar of your browser on your PC, laptop, or cell phone, for example.
  6. Once you’ve entered the smart setup process, it’ll question if you want to “Setup this extender as a range extender” or as an “Access point.
  7. Select Access Point from the drop-down menu.
  8. It will prompt you to enter the password for your Main Router. After you’ve typed that, press the NEXT key.
  9. After around 60 seconds, it will establish a secure connection with your router. On the Extender, there will be solid green light.
  10. Finally, your Linksys Range Extender is ready to use.

Using the Classic firmware, set your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router to Bridge Mode.

  • Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to one of the router’s numbered ports that supports Bridge Mode. For the time being, do not attach anything to the Internet port.
  • Connect the power adapter to an electrical outlet on one end and the Linksys router on the other.
  • In the Address bar of your web browser, type the IP address of your router. [Enter] is pressed. A Linksys router’s default IP address is 192.168.1.1.
  • A request for the router’s username and password will appear. In the appropriate areas, type the router’s log-in credentials, then click OK. admin is the default username and password. The username is left blank for other router models, while the password is admin.
  • When a warning window appears, tick the box that says “Do not show me this again” and then click OK.
  • After that, you’ll be taken to the router’s web-based setup page. Set the Internet Connection Type to Bridge Mode under Internet Setup.
  • Set the Router Address to Specify an IP address, then input the Linksys router’s IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway, then click Save Settings.
  • Connect the main router to the Linksys router’s Internet port.
