Tech updates for 4th week of June 2022

Amazon's new robotic technology is designed to make employees' jobs easier and safer.

Amazon now has over 5,20,000 robotic drive units that collaborate with employees to make workplaces safer and more efficient.

The Proteus, a fully autonomous mobile robot, can navigate Amazon facilities. The Cardinal robot can pick a package from a pile, lift it, and read the label before placing it on a GoCart to continue the package's journey. "Our vision is to automate GoCart handling across the network, reducing the need for people to manually move heavy objects through our facility and instead allowing them to focus on more rewarding work," the company said. Amazon also demonstrated a new robotic system that eliminates the need for employees to bend or climb ladders to retrieve items.

Most interesting space news from last week.

For all space nerds out there, the last week has been extremely exciting. The Chinese lander discovered evidence of native water on the moon. On Mars, NASA's Perseverance rover discovered an unexpected piece of foil. China claimed that its Giant Eye telescope detected signs of alien civilizations. The black hole is 7,000 times brighter than the entire light in our galaxy.

The Chang'E-5 lander from China has provided the first definitive confirmation of local origin water on the moon. Using data from NASA observatories, scientists were able to diagnose this case of "cosmic cannibalism."

Analysts predict that Apple will launch the next generation of AirTag.

The Apple AirTag is a tracking device that is primarily used to track valuables. Apple is working on the second generation AirTag, according to popular analyst Ming Chi Kuo. Apple introduced the AirTag in 2021 and has been dogged by controversy ever since. While Apple launched it with the clear intention of allowing people to track their belongings, the device has been misused to stalk people. According to Kuo, Apple will only consider releasing a second generation AirTag if total sales exceed 35 million units in 2022.

Creators on Facebook and Instagram will not be required to share their revenues until 2024.

Facebook and Instagram creators will not have to share a cut of their revenue until 2024, according to Mark Zuckerberg. This comes after Meta previously stated that it would postpone revenue sharing until 2023. In addition, the social media company

is introducing new ways for creators to monetize their work on its platforms. Creators will be able to create subscriber-only Facebook groups, where users will have to pay a subscription fee to access the group chat, according to Zuckerberg. He also stated that more creators would be eligible for monetization programmes such as cash bonuses for popular Reels.

Bitcoin remains near $20,000 as investors fear about the "domino effect."

Bitcoin dropped last week to as low as $17,592.78, falling below the key $20,000 level for the first time since December 2020. In the latest cryptocurrency

meltdown, it has lost 55% of its value this year and 35% this month alone. Bitcoin's decline follows issues at several major crypto firms, and it is possible that other crypto investors will be forced to sell their holdings to meet margin calls and cover losses.

According to price site Coinmarketcap, the overall crypto market capitalisation is around $950 billion, down from a peak of $2.9 trillion in November 2021.
