Your Visit To Zanzibar Is Made Easy

Zanzibar, located in the coastal region of Tanzania, is one of Africa's best places to tour. The beauty of Zanzibar is the fantastic sandy beaches, crystal waters, diverse cultures, and unique wildlife. Usually, traveling to a new place is filled with the excitement of discovering new things and the fear of whether the area will be safe for you, who will guide you on your tour, or whether there are good lodges. This article will highlight some facts about Zanzibar that are important to know as you plan your exploration. Besides being one of the safest destinations in Africa, here are other facts you should know about Zanzibar:

1.     Home to some rare creatures. Endangered species, like the red colobus monkey, the Zanzibar leopard, and the Zanzibar Servaline genet, have Zanzibar as their home. Although some of these animals are rarely seen, IntelSafari will be glad to take you on a Zanzibar wildlife safari tour on the spots where you will most likely come across them.

2.     It has a warm climate all year round. Zanzibar has two rainy seasons, that is, long and short seasons. The long rainy season occurs between March and May, while the short rainy season is experienced in November and December. Thus the most appropriate time to visit Zanzibar is from June to October and Mid-December to February. Also, it is good to know that Zanzibar is situated near the equator; therefore, it has equal days and nights of 12 hours each and enjoys a warm climate all year round.

3.     Swahili is the primary language.

4.     26th April is a national holiday. On this day, Tanzania and Zanzibar commemorate the founding of modern-day Tanzania through the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar on 26th April 1964. Therefore, this holiday is usually referred to as Union Day.

5.     It is known for its spices. Spice farming comes second, after tourism, as a significant part of Zanzibar's economy.

6.     Zanzibar is not just one island. There are several smaller islands and two larger ones – Unguja and Pemba.

7.     Zanzibar City is the capital. Many people think that the famous historical Stone Town is the capital of Zanzibar. However, Zanzibar City, in which Stone Town is situated, is the capital. Although it is not the capital, Stone Town is worth visiting when touring Zanzibar. Its coral stone buildings, narrow streets, and spice markets make the city an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Knowing what to expect in Zanzibar means there is no need to fear anything. You can also get our Zanzibar safari packages and give us the privilege to make your holiday as exciting as expected.
