While certainly showing its age (much of the city dates from the 16th century, after all), Udaipur is a beautiful place built around a handful of lakes and surrounded by dramatic mountains. Talking to locals in the city center was one of our favorite things to do in Udaipur. There’s something about the relaxed atmosphere that makes chatting up local residents really easy. The touts here are just not as pushy, which is a big relief after our experiences in other cities where we were bombarded with questions at every corner.
