Types of Threaded Rod Fixings

Threaded rod fixings are like standard screws and bolts. They are usually longer than standard bolts or screws and are installed in much the same way. The main difference between threaded rods and screws is that threaded rods do not require hammering heads. There are several different types of threaded rods.

All-Thread Rod (ATR)

All-Threaded Rod Fixings are used for many purposes and are available in various grades and finishes. Various coatings can increase the corrosion resistance of these fixings as well as improve their torque values. However, the basic all-thread rod is usually unfinished and without a protective coating. Some of these fixings are also available in zinc plated finish. This is a popular option for aesthetic purposes, as it provides a uniform, shiny coating.

All-thread rod fixings are generally made from heat-treated alloy steel that is quenched and tempered. They are commonly used for securing structural supports to concrete foundations. Depending on their intended application, fasteners meeting ASTM F1554 Grade 105 specifications may also be dual-certified with ASTM A193 Grade B7. Other commonly used grades of all-thread rods include ASTM A354 Grade BD and ASTM A307 Grade B.

Galvanised and Stainless-Steel Threaded Rods

Threaded rod fixings are available in a variety of grades and finishes. These variations may affect their corrosion resistance, torque values, and ease of assembly and disassembly. Stainless steel and Galvanised rods have similar properties. Both types are commonly used for a variety of applications.

A threaded rod is long, cylindrical, and threaded. It is like a bolt, but larger, with threading extending around it. They are commonly used for joining two objects or structures, and they also excel at tension applications.

Stainless steel threaded rod fixings are available in various grades. The most common are 304 and 316. 316 is more corrosion resistant and less likely to tea stain than 304. Stainless steel has a higher rate of resistance, so it is often preferred in applications where corrosive conditions may be present.

Brass Locators

Brass locators are a useful tool for concealed fixings. They are made of metal and have a hexagonal shape. They are available with both a male and female part. They are often used for signage or other applications where the location of fixings must be concealed. They are also useful for fixing fascia and signs.

There are two types of brass locators. Heavy duty locators are made of brass and have mechanical fixing, which makes them highly reliable for many years. They are suitable for larger displays and heavier panels. They are also very easy to remove and won't deteriorate.

Stainless Steel Nut and Bolt Fixings

Stainless steel nut and bolt fixings are made from stainless steel and are commonly used to secure threaded rods in a variety of structures. They have a thread that runs the length of the rod and are used in construction projects to attach structures to walls and ceilings. They are often used to attach doors and other assembly housings. Their threaded design makes them easy to install and remove.

Stainless steel nut and bolt fixings are available in a variety of grades and finishes. Some coatings provide improved corrosion resistance, while others increase torque values and ease of disassembly. Most thread rod comes unfinished, or with a minimal protective finish. One of the lowest corrosion-resistant thread rods available is the black all-thread rod. It is also commonly referred to as black oxide, bare, or plain.

Nonstandard Threaded Rods

Nonstandard threaded rod fixings are available in various sizes, materials, and thread types. Many different grades of these rods are available, and some are custom-made for specific applications. To ensure that your rods are of the highest quality, make sure to check the material specifications.

There are several materials used for these fixings, from zinc-plated steel to stainless steel. The threads on these rods vary from NC to NF. Metals used to manufacture them include stainless steel, brass, and aluminium. You can also get them in various sizes, including US standard lengths.

To manufacture a nonstandard Threaded Rod Fixings, a round bar of steel is cut slightly longer than the length you require. The bar is then passed through a thread cutting machine, which removes a thin layer of material and leaves the thread. The threaded bar is then cut to length and bevelled. This process is slower than thread rolling and is more expensive. Stainless steel, zinc-plated mild steel, and carbon steel are the most common materials used for making nonstandard threaded rod fixings.
