Low Blood Pressure Patients May Benefit From Non-Invasive Blood Pressure Monitors

When a patient is critically ill or is about to have surgery, blood pressure monitors are utilised to measure their blood pressure. In order to measure blood pressure often or continuously, non-invasive blood pressure monitors are available in operating rooms, intensive care units, surgical recovery rooms, emergency departments, and other critical care locations. Blood pressure must be checked when a patient is in a critical condition since it is crucial to the diagnosis. While blood pressure measurements are essential in intensive care units to monitor vital signs, screen for hypertension, determine cardiovascular risk, and manage, diagnose, and treat both acute and chronic medical disorders, they are also utilised to screen for hypertension.

One of the most common complications with non-invasive blood pressure monitors is nerve damage. An inflatable cuff is not an ideal option for use in neonates as it is less accurate and can damage nerves and arteries. An inflatable cuff is also less accurate than an invasive arterial line.

There are fully-automatic and semi-automatic models available. The automatic category is growing faster than the semi-automatic segment, owing to technological advances. The arm-based non-invasive blood pressure monitors are highly recommended by the European Society of Hypertension and the American Heart Association.
