Read Aloud

Immediately after the introduction to the PTE test, PTE Read Aloud is the first question in the Speaking section of the test. PTE Read Aloud is a fairly straightforward task, so you can get a high score if you prepare well. The PTE Read Aloud task involves reading a short text aloud. It takes around 40 seconds to prepare, depending on the length of the text. Afterwards, you have forty seconds to discuss the same. To score high in Read Aloud, you need to speak clearly and with no hesitations; the read aloud questions are just like all the other Speaking questions, where you need to pronounce each word very clearly. It is important to speak clearly and at a moderate speed since the PTE Read Aloud test is evaluated by a software program called the PTE algorithm. You need to read the text fast, since if you read it too fast, the computer will have difficulty understanding what you say. The read aloud text is not very long, just about sixty words, and you get six to seven questions on the PTE test. You also get Reading score if you also read the text, so these questions contribute to your Reading score along with your Speaking score.

In the PTE Read Aloud test, there are three factors to take into account: content, oral fluency, and pronunciation. It's important to remember not to skip, add, or pronounce any words from the text incorrectly. There are several factors that are used to judge your proficiency in oral fluency. The first and foremost is pausing on punctuation, which is essential for fluency. For each wrong word, you lose marks proportionally to the length of the text. In addition, the PTE Read Aloud text requires you to speak at a normal pace because speaking slower would result in not finishing the entire text and speaking faster might result in some words not being clearly pronounced. Furthermore, you must also stress words and sentences correctly. If you do not know what these are, watch our YouTube video. Also, when you are reading aloud, use your lip movements to ensure each word is pronounced clearly. The most important aspect of PTE Read aloud is to modulate your voice in a natural way, so don't sound robotic. Once you master each of these scoring criteria, you will guarantee a high score.

How do you prepare for the PTE Read Aloud exam, The idea here is to break your strategy down into several steps, and the first step is to use the forty seconds provided to you. We use this time for preparation, read the text aloud to yourself and identify if there are any words that are difficult to pronounce. During this time, you can practice the difficult words in the PTE Read aloud text and prepare yourself to speak. It is now time to speak for forty seconds and you should imagine that you are explaining this to someone else, so read it aloud with passion. It is essential to emphasize the meaningful words in a sentence so that you can improve your oral fluency score, and to not waste any more time while responding to a PTE Read Aloud question. As soon as you finish responding, move on to the next question.

Your next step should be to practice a lot. If you do not have great speaking skills, you must practice every day to improve them.
