1. Gaokao:

The National College Entrance Exam (NCEE), commonly known as Gaokao, is a standardized college entrance exam held annually in mainland China. It is required for entrance into almost all higher education institutions at the undergraduate level. 

The exam lasts about nine hours over two to three days, depending on the province in which it is held. Standard Chinese and mathematics are included in all tests. Candidates can choose from English, French, Japanese, Russian, German, or Spanish for the foreign language portion of the test. Gaokao is intended for third-year high school students with an average age of 18, while the preparation requires 12 years of deep study. At Gaokao, examinees are asked to answer extremely tough questions in subjects like arithmetic, chemistry, biology, physics, Chinese literature, geography, political Science, and so on. The overall marks received by the student are generally a weighted sum of their subject marks. 

Due to the difficulty of the exam, some European and American colleges have begun to accept Gaokao marks. 


2. IIT-JEE:

Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Entrance Exam is now known as Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE-Advanced), an academic examination held annually in India. It is considered one of the toughest exams in the world, with a qualification rate of 26.17% in 2022. It is the entrance exam for engineering programs at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Candidates who pass the exams become eligible for the Siemens Scholarship, which supports their Bachelor's degree in engineering. Moreover, the JEE-ADVANCED scores are also used as a possible basis for admission by Indian applicants to non-Indian universities such as the University of Cambridge and the National University of Singapore. JEE is divided into two tiers:

  • JEE Mains: It lasts for 3.5 hours and is available in three separate papers that enable admission to programs leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, architecture, and planning.
  • JEE Advanced: It is also a 3-hour exam for students seeking admission to IITs.
3. UPSC:

The Union Public Service Commission, or UPSC, is India's premier central recruitment agency for the recruitment of all Group 'A' officers under the government of India. The UPSC exam is conducted in three phases: a preliminary examination consisting of two objective-type papers (General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II), and a main examination consisting of nine papers of essay type, in which two papers are qualifying, and only marks of seven are counted followed by an interview. The former is held in March yearly, whereas the latter is held in December. The total duration for the completion of this test is approximately 32 hours. The examinees who clear the exam are assigned to the positions of Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and others, depending upon the scores.

4. Mensa:

Mensa is the largest and oldest high-IQ in the world. The test conducted by Mensa consists of 35 problems that must be solved within a 25-minute time limit by the examinees. All the items consist of visual patterns with progressive difficulty and do not require specialized knowledge or mathematical skills. Each correct answer gives one point, and all items are weighted equally. Membership of Mensa is open to persons who have attained a score within the upper two per cent of the general population on an approved intelligence test that has been properly administered and supervised. All members within the age group of 3 to 105 are eligible for the test. It has over 145,000 members in roughly 100 countries. 

5. GRE ( Graduate Record Examination ):

The Graduate Record Examinations is a standardized test that is an admission requirement for many graduate schools in the United States and Canada. Educational Testing Service administers the test. It tests analytical writing, quantitative reasoning and verbal reasoning. The test is computer-based and lasts about 3 hours and 45 minutes (includes 1-minute breaks after each section and a 10-minute break after the third section). It can be taken five times a year, and the scores are valid for five years. There are no official prerequisites to give the exam. 


6. CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst): 

A Chartered Financial Analyst charter is a designation given to those who have completed the CFA program and completed acceptable work experience requirements. The CFA program is a three-part exam that tests the fundamentals of investment tools, valuing assets, portfolio management, and wealth planning. All three levels' exams are given simultaneously on the same day, with one exam date per year. The examination is a minimum of 3 years. The questions in the first two levels are objective, whereas the questions in the third level are subjective. Examinees can take the exam as long as they have a bachelor's degree, are in the final year of a Bachelor's degree at the time of registration, or have four years of qualified, professional work experience or a combination of work/college experience that totals four years. 


7. CCIE ( Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert):

The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert is a technical certification offered by Cisco systems. The certifications are generally accepted worldwide as the most prestigious networking certifications in the industry. Candidates must pass a written exam and the corresponding hands-on lab exam. 

The test is divided into six sections: routing and switching, service provider, security, collaboration, data centre, and wireless. There are two test sets for the requirement for certification:

  • Written exam: duration is 120 minutes with multiple choice questions
  • Lab exam: duration is 8 hours in one day.

8. GATE ( graduate aptitude test in engineering India):

 The graduate aptitude test in engineering tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Science admissions into the masses program and jobs in public sector companies. 3rd-year student or graduate with a Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, a master's degree in Science, and computer applications can apply for GATE examinations. It is also held in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Europe, and the United Arab Emirates to test concepts in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, and general aptitude for admission into master's degree courses.
