The Most Flattering Haircuts for Shoulder-Length Hair

Discover your ideal shoulder-length haircut by reading this guide.

Let’s categorize the term “shoulder length layered hair” into three groups:

  1. Atop the shoulder
  2. Over the shoulder
  3. Collarbone length

1. Atop the shoulder

Shoulder-length bob. Length of a unicorn. Stunning, but you quickly encounter some issues from the “on the shoulder”. It’s a must-try if you’re not sure about switching to a shorter bob or if this is your first time going above the shoulder. To avoid needing haircuts frequently, go a little shorter after experimenting with this length and liking the results. It’s not everyone’s favorite, but you can probably only wear a low ponytail “nub,” which I think is adorable.

2. Over the shoulder

With hair this length, you can pull it all back into a low ponytail, but you might have some front pieces fall out. The back can be messy when pinned in a high pony, though. This length flips from hitting the shoulder for the majority of people. While some don’t mind it, others detest it. This length, in my opinion, is ideal for someone with thicker hair, no layers, a shorter neck, hair that is wavy to curly in texture, and who isn’t ready for a short bob.

3. Collarbone length

Collarbone length is referred to as a “Lob” or a long bob. The hair at the nape can fall out of a high ponytail. Using two bobby pins shouldn’t be a problem if you’re comfortable doing so. This length typically also looks good with a bun.

Conclusion

That concludes the discussion of shoulder length hair. Everybody has a different look, so all that’s required is for you to be comfortable with the one you select. For more ideas on shortish celebrity hairstyles, visit “Paula Young” page.
