Charlie Cox’s recent comments surrounding Daredevil: Born Again, the MCU, and Deadpool are sure to kill any lingering fan concerns about the MCU.
Charlie Cox's comments at the German Winter Comic-Con 2022 should kill any fan concerns left for both Daredevil: Born Again and Deadpool 3. Both projects feature the inclusion of Marvel characters to the MCU from other Marvel universes. Daredevil returns in his first solo MCU project after appearing in Netflix's Marvel universe, while Deadpool will be introduced after spending time in the Fox X-Men universe.
Both prior projects featuring these characters, Netflix's Daredevil and Fox's Deadpool and Deadpool 2, were much more mature in nature than the MCU thanks to R ratings, meaning many were worried this would not translate to the Disney-owned MCU. However, speaking at the German convention, Charlie Cox stated: "I think because of the tone of our show, I think that there’s a place for Daredevil to show up in Deadpool. It would be really cool." This all but confirms the R-rated nature of both the MCU's Daredevil: Born Again and Deadpool 3, with Cox surely meaning that both projects' more mature tones exemplified through their similar ratings mean a crossover would work.

Why Deadpool & Daredevil Have To Be R-Rated (& Marvel Knows This)
One thing that is obvious from both previous Daredevil iterations and Deadpool films, is that both projects in the MCU would massively benefit from an R-rating. Beginning with Deadpool, the characters various Fox appearances prove this. Deadpool's first appearance in the franchise came in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was PG-13 and drastically mishandled the character. The film sowed shut his mouth, therefore robbing the character of his meta, dry, adult humor that has made the character so different over the years. Deadpool and Deadpool 2, however, proved just how good this version of the character could be on film through the aforementioned humor and stylized over-the-top violence.
Daredevil was similarly revered for its more mature themes and style. The violence of Daredevil on Netflix led to the action being praised as some of the highest quality, most gritty and realistic action Marvel has ever put to screen. This, along with the mature elements of both Matt Murdock and Kingpin - the show's two central characters - led to Daredevil being viewed as one of Marvel's best TV efforts. With the MCU bringing these two characters back, it is clear Marvel knows just how good Daredevil can be with a mature rating, as do the constant reiterations with Deadpool's character and his own R rating.
Could Daredevil & Deadpool Crossover In The MCU’s Future?
One thing that Cox's comments hint at is the potential of a crossover between the characters in the future of the MCU. With huge crossover events like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, it is likely that Daredevil and Deadpool could cross paths at some point. However, Cox's comments specifically mention the similar tones of the two separate projects, with potential Avengers movies maybe not allowing for this. Another way they could crossover is through the next Spider-Man trilogy, with both characters being longtime comic allies of the web-slinger. Regardless, it is clear Charlie Cox is up for a Daredevil-Deadpool combination, something that should ease fans worries of a potential PG-13 version of either character.
