History of University of Reading

In the UK, the University of Reading was founded in 1892 and began as an extension college of the University of Oxford. It was initially a School of Art and Science before being moved by the council to the new college. Three years later, the Palmer family of Huntley & Palmers fame constructed Wantage Hall. The Hall is renowned for its scientific endeavours. Three units make up the majority of Reading University. The main campus, Whiteknights, has garnered praise for its 130 hectares of parkland. The historic London Road site just had a £30 million makeover at that time. The third campus is in Greenlands.
