CURTIS JERE - A METALWORK FIRM OR ARTIST

Jerry Fels and Curtis Freiler, Jerry's in-laws, came up with the idea for Curtis Jere, which was established in California in 1964. Renoir & Matisse, run by Fels and Freiler, produced costume jewellery before they became Curtis Jere. In 1963, a fire destroyed Renoir & Matisse; the two artists then made the decision to start anew in the decor industry. They gave their new company the name Artisan House and chose Curtis Jere as their pen name for the metal decor line. Their own personal objective for Jere? "Gallery-quality art for the masses" shall be produced.

Curtis Jere, also known as Curtis Jeré, was an American artist and designer known for his metal wall sculptures and other decorative metalwork. Jere's work is characterised by its use of found objects and industrial materials, such as metal and wire, arranged in dynamic, abstract compositions. Jere's metal wall sculptures, which became popular in the 1960s and 1970s, are highly collectible and have been exhibited in museums and galleries around the world.

Many of Jere's sculptures feature themes inspired by nature, such as birds and flowers, while others depict more abstract subjects, such as movement and energy. Jere's work has been described as "kinetic" and "sculptural," and his style has been influential in the field of modernist design.

Adding a piece of abstract metal wall art to your home or business is a great way of bringing a new level of contemporary style and character to your space. These types of art work are commonly hand made by metal working artists, which means that nearly everyone is completely unique. They were initially introduced by Curtis Jere, who was a metalworking artist in the 1950s.

The reason these types of art sculptures are considered to be abstract is because they lack the type of imagery that we can relate to the visual world around us. This means that there are no images of people, animals or landscapes within them. They all implement combinations of varying lines, shapes, textures and colours to achieve a truly breathtaking piece of art.

A single piece of abstract metal wall art can actually be comprised of several corresponding pieces, with each one carrying over the design of the adjacent one. In order to hang such a creation, most require wall hanging hardware and mounting tools, all of which are usually included with your purchase.

JERE,s METALWORK

Metalwork is the art, craft, or trade of working with metal, either by shaping it into decorative or functional objects or by joining together various metal parts to create structures or machines. Metalworking involves a variety of techniques, such as forging, casting, machining, and welding, and it requires a range of specialised tools and equipment, such as hammers, anvils, lathes, and welders.

There are many different types of metalworking, including blacksmithing, which involves shaping and forging hot metal using a forge and anvil; jewellery making, which involves creating decorative objects and accessories from precious metals; and metal sculpture, which involves shaping and forming metal into artistic creations. Metalworking is also used in the construction of buildings, vehicles, and other structures, as well as in the manufacture of machines and equipment.

In addition to its practical applications, metalworking has a long history as a creative and artistic pursuit, with many cultures and civilizations producing metal objects of great beauty and complexity. Metalworkers have been able to produce a wide range of decorative and functional objects, including jewellery, armour, weapons, tools, and household objects, using a variety of techniques and materials.

Jere's metalwork often incorporated found objects and materials that he transformed into works of art through his unique vision and craftsmanship. He was known for his ability to create intricate, three-dimensional compositions using metal, wire, and other materials, and his sculptures are often characterised by their dynamic lines and curves. Jere's metal wall sculptures, in particular, are highly sought after by collectors and are widely regarded as some of the most iconic and influential works of modernist design.
