Endocrine Therapy Drugs (ETDs) Are Used In The Treatment Of Cancers That Use Hormones To Grow, Such As Breast And Prostate Cancer

Hormones are used by the human endocrine system to regulate and coordinate the body's metabolism, reproduction, level of energy, growth, and development, as well as its response to stress, trauma, and mood disorders. Endocrine Therapy, commonly referred to as hormone therapy, adds, blocks, or removes hormones or chemicals to treat disorders like diabetes, breast cancer, and other conditions. As these hormones aid in cell growth and spread throughout the body, oestrogen and progesterone, which are prevalent in a woman's body, can exacerbate breast cancer.

Endocrine therapy can be used to treat breast cancer in two different ways: a) by blocking the actions of oestrogen and progesterone to prevent them from promoting the growth of malignant cells; and b) by using Endocrine Therapy Drugs (ETDs) or surgery to prevent the ovary from releasing oestrogen and progesterone. Abemaciclib (Verzenio), Anastrozole (Arimidex), Exemestane (Aromasin), and Fulvestrant (Faslodex) are a few of the Endocrine Therapy Drugs (ETDs) used to treat breast cancer.
