How to Fix Sage 50 Not Responding Error

If you’re seeing an error message that says “Sage 50 not responding,” or “Sage 50 not working” there are four methods you can do to try and fix the problem.

Step 1. Disabling the Compatibility mode with Windows XP

  • Go to your desktop and right-click the Sage 50 icon.
  • Go to Properties from the menu.
  • Choose the Compatibility tab from the window.
  • Now, deselect “Run this Program in compatibility mode for”

Step 2. Running Sage 50 with Administrator Rights

  • Go to your desktop and right-click the Sage 50 icon.
  • Go to Properties from the menu.
  • Choose the Compatibility tab from the window.
  • Now, deselect “Run as Admin.”
  • Confirm that the ‘Not Responding’ error stops appearing on the screen. If not, go to the third method.

Step 3. Rebooting the computer system. (In case the .SAI is stored on the local drive and/or other users are using it too)

  • If you feel like it is a Network issue, save the file to the local drive by copying and pasting it there. Create a backup.
  • If the copying process is extremely slow, confirm the file size. The problem may lie with the server or the network.
  • Once you have made everyone log out of their systems, reboot the server.
  • If the issue is network-related, try rebooting the router.

Step 4. Starting the Connection Manager services again

  • Go to the desktop and hit the Windows button on your keyboard.
  • Type MSC in the search bar given in the start menu.
  • MSC window will appear on the screen.
  • Go to the Name column, find Sage 50 Database Connection Manager, and right-click on it.
  • Choose Restart from the dialogue box.
