Tips To Keep Ice Box Cool - Techniice

Before you use your Ice Box Cooler, put a layer of crushed ice around it the day or night before. You’ve already done half of the job by cooling down your icebox and the air inside it before you add the ice. Here are some tips enlisted.

Put In Ice Cube

Crushed ice is mostly air, which is why it melts so quickly. Since it melts so rapidly, you can immediately use the water in your ice chest. Meanwhile, block ice is a solid mass of frozen water. Like crushed ice, it will keep your cooler nice and frosty without the hassle of constant replenishment.

You can buy block ice in soft or hard packs that are easy to handle and pack, or you can get it in ice packs like these. You can also make your own using ice cream containers or juice bottles. Just remember to fill them halfway so they have room to grow.

Put Some Salt On Your Ice

When you add salt to the water before it freezes, it lowers the temperature at which it freezes. This means that your ice will be colder than frozen fresh water. Using seawater will work even better.

Let Your Drinks And Food Cool Down First

Your icebox will work best if you first cool down the things you want to put in it. First, put your food in the fridge for a few hours. Then, put the food that is already cold in the icebox. This way, you don’t have to use as much ice to cool down the contents.

Toss Some Beer In The Fridge

For the above reasons, even partially melted crushed ice should be left in the icebox when placing beverages inside. The cold water will slow the melting of your ice block.

Don’t Go Out In The Sun

The sun is your worst enemy if you want to keep your ice from melting. Keep your icebox and Tool Boxes as much as possible in the shade, and make sure there is good airflow around it. Putting the icebox inside your tent or car is like putting it in an oven since temperatures can rise 10 to 20 degrees higher than outside.

You could even put a blanket or towel over your icebox to protect it from the sun. A wet towel will work even better if you are at the beach.

When you open your refrigerator, heat and cold escape, you shouldn’t have to open your fridge very often, but when you do, please take care.

Move extra drinks to a smaller icebox or a soft-sided cooler bag to get you through a session, so you don’t have to keep racing to the larger Tool Boxes every 10 minutes to fetch another one. This means the primary refrigerator door needs to be opened only once.
