Various Fluids Can Be Administered To Patients Through A Central Venous Catheter, And These Fluids Can Be Easily Injected Into Their Bodies

Central Venous Catheter (CVC) is a medical device that is inserted into a large vein in the body to provide access to the central circulation system. It is a long, thin tube that is placed in a central vein, usually in the neck, chest, or groin area, and can be used for a variety of medical purposes.

Central Venous Catheter is a tool used to take blood pressure and administer medications, intravenous fluids, or blood transfusions. A vein is entered through a small, flexible tube, typically just below the collarbone. The superior vena cava, a sizable vein located above the right side of the heart, is where it is threaded (directed). To take blood samples or administer fluids, a needle is placed into a port located outside the body.

Central Venous Catheter are typically inserted in a hospital setting by a trained healthcare professional. The insertion procedure can be done under local anesthesia, conscious sedation, or general anesthesia, depending on the patient's condition and the type of catheter being used.

Types of Central Venous Catheters are as below-

·      Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC): A PICC is a long, thin tube that is inserted through a peripheral vein, usually in the arm, and threaded through to a central vein.

·      Tunneled Catheter: A tunneled catheter is a type of central venous catheter that is inserted under the skin and tunneled through subcutaneous tissue to a central vein.

·      Non-Tunneled Catheter: A non-tunneled catheter is a type of central venous catheter that is inserted directly into a central vein, usually in the neck or groin area.

·      Implanted Port: An implanted port is a small, rounded device that is placed under the skin and connected to a catheter that is threaded into a central vein.
