Aging is a normal process that everyone must undergo from birth till the end of their life. Unfortunately, aging frequently weakens the body, leaving it vulnerable to various diseases. NMN is a naturally occurring molecule in organisms. NMN is produced when a phosphate group reacts with a nucleoside containing ribose and nicotinamide. Primarily, the body needs NMN to create NAD+. There are several precursors, the most prevalent of which are nicotinamide riboside (NR) and nicotinic acid (niacin).


Scientists consider NAD+ a coenzyme, meaning it collaborates with other enzymes in the cell to mediate biological events. According to studies, NAD+ levels in the body drop with age. This exposes the body to several diseases and metabolic problems.


As many studies indicate, consuming NAD+ precursors, such as NMN, is one of the most promising ways to increase dwindling NAD+ levels.


One research investigated the effect of NMN consumption on NAD+ serum levels. The results demonstrated a 38 percent rise in NAD+ levels in the group given NMN for 60 days, compared to a 14 percent increase in the placebo group. Before this, animal research demonstrated that NAD+ precursors might increase blood levels of the coenzyme. Despite the need for more human study, evidence suggests that NMN can enhance NAD+ levels. Despite the lack of more human studies, evidence suggests that NMN can improve NAD+ levels.


In recent years, clinical research has begun investigating NMN aging effects on the human aging process. It has been demonstrated that NMN increases insulin sensitivity, improves sleep and physical performance, enhances exercise endurance, improves skin health, increases walking speed, and boosts strength in middle-aged and elderly individuals. These clinical trials imply that much animal research on the anti-aging properties of NMN applies to people. Still, long-term research is required to evaluate the potentially harmful consequences of chronic NMM consumption. If NMN proves safe over the long term, additional trials may reveal even more significant anti-aging benefits.
