What to Do Before Tanning Bed

Tanning beds are a great alternative if you want to appear sun-kissed but don't have time to spend hours lounging by the pool. In addition, due to the regulated nature of tanning beds, they may be safer for your skin than natural tanning. In a safe, controlled setting, your skin's natural defenses are strengthened, reducing the likelihood of being compromised when on vacation or enjoying outdoor activities. To maximize the benefits of UV tanning, knowing what to do before tanning bed sessions is essential.

Check with Your Doctor About Safety

Consult a dermatologist or primary care physician before using a tanning bed if you have a history of skin problems or susceptible skin.

Your skin may be more sensitive to the sun if you take certain drugs or undergo specific medical procedures. If you are having medical treatment or are taking medication, you should wait until you get your doctor's approval to go tanning. Verify that your medicine does not cause photosensitivity.

Anyone can achieve a darker skin tone by regularly using a UV tanning bed. If you want to get the most out of your tanning sessions, knowing your skin type and using a professional tanning lotion is essential.

Various skin tones range from Type I (the fairest) to Type VI (the darkest). Find out from your dermatologist what tanning bed use can signify for your skin type.

Before going tanning, give your skin a good exfoliation.

If you exfoliate your whole body within 24 hours after using a tanning bed, your tan will be more even and stay longer. A complete body exfoliation takes time, but a quick scrub with a loofah or other bath brush should do the work in a pinch.

You should also shave your body hair 1–2 days before your appointment if you want to get the most out of your tanning session.

Take off your jewelry and makeup.

If you don't want your tan to have weird lines, remove your rings, necklaces, and other jewelry before entering the tanning bed. Makeup, aromatic scents, and perfume should also be avoided before a tanning session.

Protect Your Lips

The lips are more vulnerable to UV radiation than the rest of your skin, yet many tanners are unaware of this. Lip balm with sun protection is an excellent example of a pre-tanning ritual. It may be the deciding factor in whether or not your lips remain healthy after a tanning session.

Apply Tanning Lotion

A tanning lotion application is essential for maximizing your session's results and extending your tan's duration. We have an extensive selection of professional tanning products formulated with luxurious skincare components to provide the best possible outcomes from your UV tanning sessions.

Using a lotion that wasn't made for UV bed tanning will shorten the tanning bed's life and reduce your session's effectiveness.
