Tube formers

Tube formers are an important part of the tube bending process. There are several types of tube formers, including manual and automatic systems. Manual tube formers are used when a precise bend angle is desired, and the speed of bending is not an issue. Automatic tube formers can be driven by hydraulic, pneumatic, or electric motor, and they are usually used in production environments where speed and precision are important. Tube formers usually include a bending die that holds the material in place, a mandrel to ensure uniform bending, and a pressure die to apply a specific amount of pressure to the material.

The type of tube former and the tube material used for bending will determine the success of the tube bending process. Rigid materials such as steel and aluminum are good options for tube formers, however more flexible materials like nylon and polyethylene can also be successful. Additionally, the shape of tube material can also affect how well the bends hold. Pipe formers with round shapes are more effective for forming more flexible bends, while longer tubes with square shapes are better for making angular bends.

Mandrel bending

Mandrel bending is another form of tube bending which uses a mandrel that follows the curvature of the bend during the bending process. Mandrel bending can be used to form any type of bend and is often used in production environments when there is a need to form tubes quickly with very tight tolerances. The mandrel acts as a guide and holds the material in the desired shape while the tube is being bent. This prevents any possible stresses from forming at the bend point which would cause problems after the bend is complete.

A mandrel bent tube will not have any flat spots or wrinkles. This type of tube is used in many industries, such as HVAC and automotive, where a strong and reliable bend is necessary. Mandrel bending can also be used to form tight bends in materials that have less flexibility, such as stainless steel and copper. Because of its precision and reliable bending, mandrel bending is the preferred bent tube in many circumstances.
