A Healthy Diet is An Investment - Niklas Gustafson

Healthy food is an investment, not an expense, and this holistic approach to health does not merely focus on the present; it establishes the foundation for a fulfilling life. The consumption of healthy food is a key ingredient that eventually maximizes health, relationships, and life satisfaction.

The relationship between one’s health and the food they consume is based on the blocks of complexity. Each individual needs food to live, but the wrong type of food may lead to negative consequences for their health. Indeed, the relationship between health and food is like a chain, where each link demonstrates a vital aspect – embedded with its own significance.

The first link portrays the choice of food we tend to consume; considering nutrient-based and balanced diets strengthens the foundation. This leads to the second link, absorption and digestion, where our body breaks down the food into nutrients to fuel the functioning. At the same time, the third link involves the nutrients that build immunity, eventually impacting psychological processes and physical being.

The final link represents the overall health outcome, which is influenced by the cumulative impacts of our dietary choices. Just as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, our health is influenced by each step in the food-health relationship.

Therefore, consuming a healthy diet is an investment; by doing so, we invest in ourselves by yielding a return in terms of a healthy body and mind.

“Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments.”

 – Bethenny Frankel

According to a 2022 meta-analysis, researchers found the paleo diet was one of the best dietary consumptions, improving chronic diseases and inflammation relative to ketogenic, Mediterranean, plant-based, and low-fat diets.

Correspondingly, Niklas Gustafson, a health advocate, increasingly focuses on the animal-based paleo diet) in order to live a healthy life. Originating from the Swedish culture, he holds a multifaceted personality, wearing several hats. Not only is he recognized for his unwavering commitment to entrepreneurship, but also for extending his influence as a content creator in addition to being a passionate advocate for health wellness. Possessing a spark in business administration, Gustafson’s entrepreneurial journey has not been confined to the peripherals of the tech sector but also fueled his brand of organic food to promote the concept of the paleo diet. In 2005, he collaborated with Octavio Laguia to establish ConZumo, an organization with a product portfolio of computer products for other companies and professionals.

However, two life events altered Gustafson’s lifestyle: witnessing the death of his father due to cancer, which was ignited further by the excessive intake of sugar, and being diagnosed with coeliac disease that had heightened implications when he turned thirteen. Gustafson stated, “That was the moment I knew what I wanted to do. I wanted to help others get better — naturally.”

Thereby, recognizing the lack of accessibility and growing demand for gluten-free paleo food, Gustafson introduced his brand Natruly with Laguia. He laid the foundations of Natruly with the mission to change the world through healthy choices.

The mission of the brand is to make healthy food a lifestyle and not an option while navigating in a world where many young people are unfamiliar with the significance of natural food. In other words, Natruly aims to pave its way in a world where artificial has become a norm and prides itself on offering healthy food alternatives.

In order to cater to the cravings of individuals while maintaining their healthy lifestyles, the brand is determined to offer a broad range of products, including bars, granola, chocolates, cookies, soluble cocoa, organic nut butter, and more.

To further promote healthy food and lifestyle, he started Gustafson Health Foundation, a non-profit organization encouraging children and young people to reduce obesity by eliminating the consumption of unhealthy and processed food while integrating the adoption of healthy habits in organic food, which is a source of nutrients. In 2022, he authored the book Hungry for Change: Beyond the Paleo Diet and Change What You Eat, and You Will Change the World. The content of the book does not merely limit the knowledge of the Paleo Diet and its diverging aspects but reminds us of the significance of nature and balance in life that further support the well-being of a person. Additionally, he communicates about the type of foods we must consume and the disastrous consequences of consuming excessive refined sugar and carbohydrates.

Before his book about the paleo diet, in 2005 and 2018, he authored a book in Spanish titled Cocinar para Seducir and Cambia lo que Comes y Cambiarás el Mundo. In ELLE Magazine, he has explained several factors why the food industry has an interest in promoting poor diets, waging war against sugar, and promoting a healthy diet, as a healthy body has the power to maintain a healthy life.
