A Slovenian worker seriously injured in a fall last year at the Tesla factory has settled a workers' compensation and wage suit against the electric vehicle maker and several contractors.Gregor Lesnik, who was among about 140 foreign workers hired by a subcontractor to help Tesla expand its Fremont factory, was awarded $550,000 for back wages and injuries suffered in the three-story fall from the roof of a paint shop in May 2015, according to court records.

Lesnik was one of the workers featured in an investigation by this newspaper, "The Hidden Workforce Expanding Tesla's Factory."

A final order resolving the case was filed Monday in Alameda County Superior Court.

The order leaves open the possibility of new claims by other workers.

Lesnik came to California in March 2015 to work at the Tesla factory paint shop, a project led by German industrial systems manufacturer Eisenmann, and staffed by Slovenian subcontractor ISM Vuzem.
