Kol is chiefly the low caste tribe or the adivasi inhabiting in the Eastern parts of India. The Munda, ho and the Oraon tribes are said to be the kol people.

Kol is the second largest tribe of Madhya Pradesh after Gonds. Apart from Madhya Pradesh, Kols also reside in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and Maharashtra. Kol tribe lives in Rewa, Sidhi, Satna, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Umaria, Anuppur and Mandla regions of Madhya Pradesh. Kols consider themselves to be natives of Pharenda and Kurali villages in Rewa district.

Kol being a tribal people is employed in cutting down jungle from year to year, and in conveying the wood sale. The Kols are also water-carriers and fishermen.

The houses of the Kols are often made of mud, grass and straw, which are called madhia or hut. Cole likes to live in a group. Their houses remain close to each other. Kols also check the land while building a new house.

Bhoyar Caste

The Bhoyars are a cultivating caste who have immigrated from the north through Betul, which is now their headquarters.

Bhoyar is a cultivating caste residing principally in several regions of Central India like Betul District and Chhindwara District. However, the Bhoyar community is not found outside the central provinces of the country.

The name Bhoyar is derived from the word 'bhor', which means morning. They are farmers by tradition.

They cultivate mainly sugarcane. They speak a form of the Malwi dialect of Rajputana, and Hindi.

In Bhoyar community, marriage within the same family group or Kul is prohibited. Marriage within first cousins is also not allowed. Girls get married at a very young age. They usually held the marriage ceremonies in the month of Baisakh. The caste allows widow re-marriage but a widow is supposed to marry a widower rather than a bachelor. They are religious by nature.

All sorts of beings belong to Jainism, but it does not mean that they are equal in their status. All Jivas are divided into four levels of existence; Gods, human beings, animals and beings in hell. The castes of Brahmins or the priests, Kshatriyas or the warriors and Vaishyas or the businessmen are the ‘twice-born’. Indeed, in its original form Jainism had no gods and did not worship idols (in direct contrast to Hindu practices). The founder of Jainism is generally regarded to be Mahavira, who was born in Vaisali (in Basarh in northern Bihar) in the 6th century BC.

Vishwakarma Caste

They are a caste of priests, engineers, architects, sculptors, temple builders and artists. It is not known whether these five subgroups historically practised endogamy, which is a frequently-found feature of the Indian caste system. The origin myths of the Vishwakarma community were first consolidated in the early 18th century, during the British colonial rule. These myths were compiled in the Vishwakarma Puranam, whose original manuscript is undated but was most probably created in the mid-17th or 18th century. According to a popular myth recorded in the Vishwakarma Puranam, the five children of the god Vishwakarma served the gods as artisans, and possessed the ability to create things by simply visualising them.

Kurmis Caste

The Kurmi is a Hindu farming caste in India and Nepal. As per Hinduism, Kurmis is the name of one of the castes or Jatis of the Hindus. The Kurmis are known as the chief ancient agricultural caste of India. The Singraur, Umrao, Chandrakar, Gangwar, Kamma, Kanbi, Kapu, Katiyar, Kulambi, Kulwadi, Kunbi, Kutumbi, Naidu, Patel, Reddy, Sachan,Verma and Vokkaliga all belong to Kurmi caste. Many new rulers of the 18th century came from such nomadic backgrounds.

Beldar Caste

They are at present, a scheduled caste in northern part of India and are still engaged in their traditional occupation of navvies. The Beldar caste traces its roots back to Northern India, particularly in the provinces of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The Beldar community shares ancestral ties with the Odh and Kewat communities, who refer to themselves as Odhs, further enhancing their historical lineage. Originally associated with agricultural activities involving soil digging and transportation, the Beldar community has also been recognized for their role in brick-making and clearing agricultural land.
