I'm an exhibit designer so this is one of the few posts here I can comment on!

You could have the best in-booth activity and if all attendees take away from it is "that was fun" then they are leaving without finding any value in your product.

They'll forget your name 5 seconds later when they see something else shiny of the show floor.

It also drives tons of traffic into your booth who's sole intention is to play with the toy which clogs up your traffic flow and makes it harder for your booth personal to attend to qualified visitors.

There's another danger in that it won't be fun at all and you've just thrown away a nice chunk of your floorspace and budget on abandoned clutter.

Whenever I work with a project requiring newer technology especially VR recently I always recommend they set it back in the booth floorplan slightly but leave evidence of it in plain site of your cross traffic.
