security Company Check Point has identified a malicious piece of software which has been named Copycat.

it has according to The Check Point infected 14 million Android devices and had extensive access to the permissions, so-called rooting, at about eight million of them.

Copycat should have given its creators 1.5 million dollars, approximately 12.7 million, in the last advertising revenue in two months.

It has mainly spread in south-east Asia, but also 280 000 android users in the united states should have been affected.

Copycat was discovered when it attacked the units that ran the Check point security solution Sandblast the Mobile.

It is believed that the Copycat has been disseminated through the popular apps that have been modified and circulated on the nedladdningssajter, and via phishing.
