A friend of mine earlier this year described the parenting dichotomy in a way that’s stuck in my head ever since – “The days are long, but the years are short.”

One of my favorite parenting podcasts is literally called “The longest shortest time” which basically says the same thing.

When the kids won’t eat what you cooked and won’t listen to anything you say on a Tuesday evening, you can’t wait to put them to bed and pour yourself a drink.

A moment later you can’t believe they’re so big, getting so old.

These precious years are going far too fast.

Some days drag on forever, some stressful moments seem to linger and eat at us as if time is standing still.
