  1. Go to Launchpad and click on Other.
  2. Now, select and open Terminal from the menu.
  3. When Terminal is open, enter the following command – sudo nvram BootAudio=%01.
  4. You will see Terminal is asking you to provide your system password.
  5. Enter the password to Terminal.
  6. To return to the silent boot mode, you will need to enter the command in order to enable the silent boot mode in your MacBook.
  7. Type sudo nvram BootAudio=%00.
  8. You can also disable the Auto Boot Functionality with a command line if you want to return to the older appearance.
  9. Type sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00.
  10. But the Auto Boot can be restored again if you type – “sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03” command line in Terminal.

Remember, the startup sound has some functional uses. You hear the startup sound when the operating system finds all that all the important components are working fine. During the boot up, MacOS runs a quick diagnostic and check if the important components are fine or not. The startup tone indicates that the Mac system will boot normally without having any bug problems. As the Startup Chime is essential for professional users, still it is not useful for average users.
