Most of the time that while making changes to settings the application restricts from the previously stored password. When modifying or changing the configurations the application keeps prompting for the password. It generally happens in case of Outlook and email applications and the same is applicable to Thunderbird emails.

Most of the users often complain of password reset problem in Thunderbird. So here is a correct and proper method to remove the stored password and reset new password in Thunderbird.

Steps to Reset Thunderbird Password

  • Open the Thunderbird application 
  • Window users have to click on Tools and then select options
  • Mac users need to open Firefox and then click on preferences
  • Click on Security and then general tab 
  • Select the option 'Saved Passwords'
  • The list of account will open, now select the account for which you want to change or reset password
  • Select 'Show Passwords' and then click on Remove Passwords on next Window
  • The Thunderbird password will be removed. Now close the application and open it again
  • When Open again, Thunderbird will prompt for the password, Enter the password
  • Select the option 'Use Password Manager to Remember this password' and then click OK
  • The Thunderbird password will reset.
