For quite some time now, people looking to get their hands on a Nintendo Switch in any kind of timely fashion have only had one option: spending a little extra cash and ordering a Nintendo Switch with Gray Joy-Con or a Nintendo Switch with Neon Blue and Neon Red Joy-Con from Amazon.Prices have dropped a great deal lately so it doesn’t sting quite as bad as it used to, but now there’s another option for people who simply refuse to pay a premium.Today — and likely today only, considering how quickly they’ll likely sell out — GameStop will have Nintendo Switch consoles in stock in its stores across the country.Switches will also be available for purchase online, and you’ll find everything you need to know in this post.GameStop has confirmed that beginning on Tuesday, it will have base Nintendo Switch consoles in stock in stores nationwide. That means shoppers in search of a Switch won’t be forced to buy a bundle if they head to a GameStop location to make their purchase.
October 6th marks the beginning of a new partnership between Leica Microsystems and ICFO- The Institute of Photonic Sciences. As such, ICFO's experts in super-resolution will partner with Leica Microsystems to conceptualize and implement technological improvements to the state-of-the-art systems from Leica.Firstly, that ICFO and Leica Microsystems lay the foundations for a new research and development (R) collaboration to foster the exchange of ideas and know-how, the mutual pursuit of new challenges and research lines within the fields of microscopy and nanoscopy , as well as the search for novel applications in biomedicine and biophysics.Secondly, far from offering standard services to researchers, the new 3 colour, 3D gated STED system (TCS SP8 STED 3X) will form part of ICFO's current state-of-the-art Super-resolution Light Microscopy and Nanoscopy (SLN) facility. This facility offers a large collection of advanced microscopes and represents a unique opportunity for users to work together with the SLN researchers and technicians in tailor-made solutions, capable of adapting to the specifics needs of advanced researchers from any institution across Europe (including members of the Euro-BioImaging, Corbel European or LaserLab research infrastructure programs), needs that may be difficult to accomplish with current technologies elsewhere.Future applications include neurodegenerative diseases, retinal genetic disorders or bacterial virulence, amongst others.
For a long time now, consoles have claimed the center of the living room by virtue of the fact that you can connect them to "the big TV", not worry too much about latency, and enjoy immersive visuals on a large scale (particularly now that 4K consoles have arrived).PCs may have greater power behind them, and be more capable of handling the highest quality visual assets, but historically it's been hard finding a TV that can showcase PC games (4K and HDR or not) without resulting in latency issues; high quality and detailed visuals may be nice to look at in gaming, but smooth frame rates and minimal lag are more key to the overall gameplay experience. For that reason, fans of PC gaming have primarily had to rely on smaller monitors on desktops and laptops with the high refresh rates, low latency, PC-specific HDR, and G-SYNC variable refresh rate technology needed for the highest quality gaming experience.Fantastic as these monitors often are for PC gaming, it’s not often they’re the first choice for a center-of-the-home screen.Even with convenient devices such as Nvidia Shield, Steam Link and the Steam Machine, PCs haven’t quite managed to make the move from the home office or bedroom into other areas of the house as easily as consoles have.We can't help but wonder if that could all be about to change, however, with Nvidia’s new Big Format Gaming Displays initiative, recently announced at CES 2018.
Fe, a colorful adventure game set in a gorgeous Nordic forest, launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 16.The Zoink Games-developed title received its launch date during Nintendo’s “Direct Mini” event showcasing new and upcoming games.Originally announced at E3 2016, Fe will launch as the debut title from the EA Originals program, an initiative designed to give exciting indie titles a prominent platform to prosper. From both gameplay footage and information from EA, it’s clear that Fe looks to draw comparisons to other atmospheric and poignant independent titles such as Journey. The game asks players to experiment with the mechanics to create their own journey through the forest, rather than simply explaining each objective at hand.Players control the eponymous fox-like creature in an interconnected forest heavily linked by sounds, with the ultimate objective of returning home.

Video of Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for the PS2 running on an unlocked PlayStation 4.Hackers seem close to publicly unlocking the Nintendo SwitchAfter years of work, hackers have finally managed to unlock the PS4 hardware with an exploit that lets the system run homebrew and pirated PS4 software. In a somewhat more surprising discovery, those hackers have also unlocked the ability to run many PS2 games directly on the console, using the same system-level emulation that powers legitimate PlayStation Classics downloads. While hackers managed to install Linux on the PS4 years ago, the biggest breakthrough in the PS4 hacking scene came late last month, when two different teams of hackers released a WebKit exploit for version 4.05 of the PS4 firmware. That firmware was patched (and automatically updated on many systems) in late 2016, and there's currently no known way to downgrade an updated system to the older firmware, which limits the range of consoles that can run the exploit. For compatible consoles, though, the kernel-level exploit allows for pretty much full control of the system, including the running of unsigned code.
The stylish roguelike dungeon-crawler Dead Cells launched on PC in Early Access, and developer Motion Twin announced today that the full game will debut on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch as well. The release date has yet to be announced, though Motion Twin is hoping to roll it out before the fall.In Dead Cells, players take control of a nameless pile of green cells that possess a skeletal warrior. They hack, slice, and pierce their way through procedurally generated dungeons crawling with increasingly powerful enemies and punctuated with elite foes and boss fights. If they die, they return to the beginning, upgrade equipment that can appear during loot drops, and go at it again.“We always wanted to bring Dead cells to as much of the gaming community as possible but in all honesty, there is some form of egoism in it too,” said Motion Twin’s producer Steve Filby.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege has been a runaway multiplayer hit for Ubisoft, but if you haven’t bought a copy of the game yet on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you won’t want to wait too much longer. With the launch of the game’s new “Year 3” content comes the introduction of a new $60 “Advanced Edition” that’s replacing the standard edition of the game. The Advanced Edition of the game comes with everything included in the standard edition, including all modes and maps, but also offers 600 Rainbow Six credits and 10 “Outbreak Collection Packs” for the new zombie-focused content. This sounds like a win-win for new players, but it’s priced $20 higher than the standard edition at GameStop right now.Of course, you won’t get all the new goodies with the standard edition. The Outbreak event, which doesn’t appear to have a concrete starting date yet, will run for four weeks and features a three-player cooperative mode that focuses on a “mysterious threat” that involves a quarantine.

There are a few things you can transfer using a MicroSD card, such as sharing screenshots and videos, but you can’t swap game saves, or move over your game library. It is possible, however, to move your user data and game saves from one Switch to another which may come in handy if you’re swapping consoles.First off, you need both your Switches physically in the same place, connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and must be updated to the firmware version 4.0.Specifically, the target console has to have fewer than seven user profiles on it — the maximum you can set up on one Switch — and enough free storage space for the data you will be adding from the “source” console.Go into the “Settings” menu (the little icon that looks like a gear on the Switch’s home screen), and navigate down to the “Users” tab.As in the last step, go to the Switch’s home screen and navigate to the Settings menu.
Deck13’s The Surge was an underrated gem from 2017, blending Dark Souls-like mechanics with a unique limb-targeting combat system and a gritty science-fiction setting. It appears to have been a success for the studio and publisher Focus Home Interactive, as the two companies are moving forward on a sequel.“The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original — hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb-targeting system and deep character progression — while also expanding greatly upon the formula,” Focus Home Interactive said in the announcement.“The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: A sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possibly by Deck13’s expanded limb-targeting system.”The first game drew some criticism for its homogeneous environments.Taking place entirely within a corporation’s headquarters, the areas had a tendency to blend together with their similar colors and rooms.

The ongoing saga between Sony and Microsoft’s cross-play battles has taken another twist today.Epic Games originally announced cross-play and cross-progression earlier this week between the PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and eventually the Android versions of the game. While Microsoft’s Xbox One was missing from the list, the company revealed last night that it will support cross-play on Fortnite for Xbox and that it will be available in the future.Unfortunately, that cross-play won’t happen between PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.Epic Games’ Nick Chester revealed on Twitter today that Xbox One players will only be able to play Fortnite with PC, Mac, and mobile players, and PS4 players will also be limited to play against PC, Mac, and mobile. It’s now clear that PS4 vs. Xbox One Fortnite cross-play will not be supported, despite there being no technical reason it can’t work.
As time marches on, and gaming faces more advancements in technology and as an art form, the standards for what makes the best indie game evolves. One of the most exciting aspects of indie games, especially in 2018, is that unlike major game publishers like Microsoft and EA, who need to subsidize their releases with monthly subscriptions and microtransactions – the best indie games don’t cost very much to begin with, so you end up with a pure portrait of the developers artistic vision, especially if you have one of the best gaming PCs.And that’s not to say that the best indie games you can buy in 2018 aren’t every bit as stimulating as the newest Assassin’s Creed or Call of Duty. They can at times blow the latest AAA games out of the water due to the fact that they’re less repetitive, and don’t need to rely on tired tropes and cliches to move millions of units. Here at TechRadar, our rankings of the 30 best indie games you can play right now aren’t based on quantity, but rather quality. We’ve mixed in not only classics and obvious choices, such as PC games like Braid and The Stanley Parable, but modern day examples of the best indie games as well, such as Cuphead and Night in the Woods.
10 years after "Burnout Paradise" demonstrated what a car game could be, the crash-filled racing series is back to show up everyone once again.Better yet: You also get all the additional content that came out after release, and a massive update to the visuals that befit a new game in 2018.That same evolutionary path can be tracked with racing games — early racing games were video game approximations of the real thing.Even though games like "Gran Turismo" and "Forza Motorsport" offer gorgeous, ultra-realistic simulations of racing, franchises like "Burnout," "Mario Kart," and "Forza Horizon" use racing as the foundation for great video games. You don't have to know how a manual gearbox works, and you don't need to know the finer details of drifting. The right trigger is the go button, and the left trigger is the stop button.
As one of the most-played games around the world right now, players are eager to learn of any news or releases for Epic Games’ Fortnite. While most of the excitement this week has been surrounding the new mobile version of the game and the gradual rollout of invites, the developer has also released a new patch for the game on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, covering both the Battle Royale and Save the World modes. The latest patch brings Fortnite up to version 3.3, and adds new content and features to the game. Those playing the massively popular Battle Royale mode will find they have access to a new Rare-level weapon: remote explosives. As you’d guess from the name, the item lets players plant a bomb at a specific location and then trigger the detonation from a distance. This new addition, however, means that smoke grenades have been removed from the game for the foreseeable future.
