This week s collection of streaming movies now available online will have you appreciating the breadth of craft that goes into this wholly entertaining artformThe importance of a strong screenplay, for instance, is made evident in two clever time-travels films: Uncertainty and Timecrimes.Indeed, there s a whole host of notable performances on display this week s movies—from Marilyn Monroe to Johnny Depp to a still-formidable 70-something Robert Mitchum to John Cazale, who impressed in every role of his too-short life, as you will see in a documentary about the actor. We could go on, but you get the picture.Trevor Craig Roberts, from Submarine is 18 years old, in a wheelchair, and has developed an acerbic, and disagreeably limited, outlook on life.It s worth a watch, but stock up on Slim Jims first.
Nearly two months after Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp and four months after Elon Musk and his wife, Talulah Riley, called it quits for the second time, the actress and the entrepreneur have been hanging out, according to TMZ.For those doing a double take, Heard and Musk have apparently been friendly for several years, confirming our well-tested theory that all rich people know each other.TMZ claims, however, that Muskheard let it happen have become closer in recent months, following the Justice League actress split from Depp.Sources told the site that Heard and her sister were spotted hanging out at Musk s hotel bungalow in Miami, and the pair had a private dinner at his house together in Los Angeles two weeks ago.If you still have doubts, TMZ also learned that Heard went to ― gasp ― Musk s office, and he in return has been to her home.Make of the news what you will because TMZ says that no one from Team Amber has confirmed that the two are doing anything more than screening old episodes of Heard s forgotten CW gem, Hidden Palms.

As this election season drags on, it can be hard to focus on anything except the haunting possibility of a President Trump. With this month s releases, Netflix seems to be saying that it understands our pain.Bathe in the dark absurdity of it all by watching Johnny Depp transform into the Donald—or, if metaphors are more your thing, watch Javier Bardem decide people s futures with a coin flip.It s going to be a hot and terrible August, so turn on the AC and escape into some movies, TV, and standup comedy.Funny or Die Presents: Donald Trump's The Art of the Deal: The Movie 2016 It s hard to find anything funny about Donald Trump or politics these days, but the sheer audacity by Funny or Die to create a 50-minute spoof of Donald Trump s ghostwritten bestseller is inspiring.

It s been thirteen years since Johnny Depp first put on some guy-liner, a few fake dreads, and a bandana he stole from Little Steven s private-label collection in order to create Jack Sparrow, the zero-bucks-giving swashbuckler at the heart of Disney s Pirates of the Caribbean films.Since then, the series has earned billions of dollars worldwide, and somehow made Hollywood Boulevard even more unbearable than usual.Still, you won t find the 53-year-old actor anywhere in the first teaser for next year s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth film in the franchise and maybe keeping the star under wraps is a good idea, given the year Depp s had so far .What you will get is some savage swordplay, a fire-plagued ship, and a new villain in the form of the creepy, crepuscular-looking Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem.Find Sparrow for me, Salazar commands a young soldier, and tell him: Death comes straight for him.We ll find out if Jack gets whacked when Dead Men Tell No Tales opens May 2017.

Follow us here every Friday or add us via RSS, iTunes, or Stitcher at the links below to take BtS on the road!Yeehaw, it s another big week at the box office, and we re in the homeward stretch ahead of a nice, long Thanksgiving weekend filled with food, football, plenty of movie and TV time, and hopefully minimal bickering over politics between you and your Uncle Joe.First things first, we ll be getting into this weekend s box office highlights, which include some great choices.First on the docket is Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the long-awaited return of one J.K. Rowling to her wizarding world, which went from a cute little idea about a wizard school to a multibillion dollar empire. The film, written and adapted by Rowling for the big screen, takes us back in time about 80 years before the events of the Harry Potter movies, and follows textbook writer Newt Scamander Eddie Redmayne in 1930s New York City as he tries to contain a loose group of, well, fantastic beasts.More specifically, the prequel is set to explore the time before both Harry Potter and Voledmort engaged in their epic struggle, filling in the details of many of the mysteries discussed in the Potter books, including we expect the backstory of Grindelwald played by Johnny Depp .
Himself, Tim Burton was asked by Disney to recreate the eccentric animationsfilmen based on Lewis Carrols books from 1951.six years ago, we got to see the result: Alice in Wonderland with live actors and much CGI-effects .Definitely a more than a passing film that kept the odd mood and the characters from the books and the animated movie, and embroidered the document.Burton said no to the runner up, so in regissörsstolen we find James Bobin. But the calm, we should not blame all this misery on the director, he has actually done a lot in burton's spirit.Nyskilde Johnny Depp has a very prominent role as the mad hatter and the two drottningsystrarna Iracebeth/the Red queen, and Mirana/White queen, we see Helena Bonham-Carter and Anne Hathaway.
Hollywood and the academic artificial intelligence community have an interesting relationship, to say the least. Many people interested in the field, myself included, love science fiction, but regularly end up being the obnoxious commentator on family movie night pointing out that Johnny Depp s Transcendence is more anti-intelligence than artificial intelligence. So it wasn t all that surprising that researchers were a bit perplexed when actress and director Kristen Stewart appeared as an author on a machine learning paper.Stewart directed Come Swim, a short film about a man s day told through both impressionism and realism. The film features the use of the so-called style transfer technique to build its story.Style transfer is the fun technique that involves using convolutional neural networks to artistically alter video in real time.
