Has Melania Trump been socially distanced from this speech until now?At a recent rally in Tampa, Florida, the first lady gave a speech, which at one point touted social distancing as a group of mask-less Donald Trump supporters looked on.“This president and his team are focused on not only destroying the virus and building back the economy. They’re focused on creating ways for people to safely stop isolating and start gathering with friends again on safe distances,” she said. After watching the clip, which, again, showed bare-faced, closely packed Trump fans, Late Late Show host James Corden picked his jaw up off the floor and put his face in his hands.“I can’t, I can’t, I can’t,” he said. “That’s like giving a speech about social distancing at a rally where no one is social di— that is exactly what was happening.” James then asked an obvious question:“When does Melania read these speeches? Is she reading them in real-time?” Corden wondered. “Did no one there bother to look around and go, ‘Ah, this section might feel weird, no?’”Though, it wasn’t all bad. As the Late Late Show host notes, at least two people got the message.“The only people at that rally who are socially distanced are Donald and Melania, and they were doing it before Covid,” James joked.See the segment below...READ MORE: James Corden Spots A Striking Contrast In Donald Trump's Latest Video James Corden Roasts Trump With Musical Coronavirus Parody, Maybe I'm Immune James Corden Finally Addresses Those Ellen Replacement Rumours

Khloe Kardashian responded to the backlash her sister Kim is receiving on social media for her 40th birthday extravaganza, saying the private-island party was a “beautiful experience” that shouldn’t be overshadowed by haters. The younger Kardashian sibling appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ show on Thursday to discuss a plethora of happenings and was asked about her sister getting roasted on Twitter for saying she had flown family and friends to a private island to celebrate her birthday.Kim’s remarks were memeified, mocked and torn apart for their insensitivity to those suffering during the coronavirus pandemic. After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time. pic.twitter.com/cIFP7Nv5bV— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) October 27, 2020Khloe told Ellen she hadn’t “heard a lot about” the uproar, but did know that “people were upset that we all went out of town.” “I don’t really know the extent of it, but this year is a frustrating year,” she told the host. “I get it. I think there’s so many frustrations going on for everybody. But also it’s her 40th. This is something that she wanted to do for us. It was such a nice thing.” Khloe went on to say that family members and their friends took precautions against the coronavirus in their travels and were “grateful” for the experience.“So many people said that we were their first party of guests that they’ve had in months and what it’s done for them to be able to pay their bills or to be able to do stuff for their family,” she said. “Just hearing those messages when we were there, we felt really good and we felt so safe. We did it in the safest way I could imagine someone doing it.”Khloe said she hopes her sister will “focus on just how beautiful it was and what she did for everybody.”“I don’t want that to overshadow all the greatness,” she added.READ MORE: Kim K's Lavish Island Getaway Tweets Inspire Ridiculous New Meme Kim Kardashian Gets Grilled By David Letterman For Standing By Trump Keeping Up With The Kardashians To End In 2021: 'End Of An Era'

Mariah Carey’s diva demands are the stuff of legend, and if you thought for one minute that she’s bothered by the d-word, then think again. In an interview with The Guardian, the singer, who has just released her autobiography, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, was asked if she thinks she’s high maintenance and her response couldn’t have been more Mariah if it tried.“You know what? I don’t give a shit. I fucking am high-maintenance because I deserve to be at this point,” she told the newspaper.“That may sound arrogant, but I hope you frame it within the context of coming from nothing. If I can’t be high-maintenance after working my ass off my entire life, oh, I’m sorry – I didn’t realise we all had to be low-maintenance. Hell, no! I was always high-maintenance, it’s just I didn’t have anyone to do the maintenance when I was growing up.”And she really doesn’t mind being thought of as a diva either.“No! Who the fuck cares?” she said. “Honestly! ‘Oh my God, they’re calling me a diva – I think I’m going to cry!’ You think in the grand scheme of things in my life that really matters to me, being called a diva? I am, bitches, that’s right.” Never change Mariah, never change. Despite Mariah’s demands, she isn’t above getting stuck in when duty calls – something Cat Deeley has receipts for.The presenter recently recalled the time Mariah played her bridesmaid and walked her down the aisle on her faux wedding day in the last ever episode of Chums when she appeared on SM:TV Live back in 2001. “She actually went to Virgin Brides herself to pick that monstrosity of a dress but she wanted to be in lavender satin,” Cat recalled.“As I was standing waiting to go on set, she fluffed my dress. I said, ‘Mariah what are you doing? What you doing Mariah?’ And she said, ‘You’ve got to look beautiful, it’s your wedding day!’”Cat added: “She’s nuts and brilliant.” READ MORE: 21 Times Mariah Carey Almost Out Mariah-Careyed Herself Mariah Carey Wants To Be In Mean Girls Sequel, Says She'll Write A Song For It Mariah Carey Reflects On 'Extremely Uncomfortable' Pregnancy Interview On Ellen DeGeneres' Show

Ellen DeGeneres said she “takes responsibility for what happens at my show” as she addressed the reports of a toxic work environment on her US talk show live on air.The presenter discussed the claims with viewers as The Ellen DeGeneres Show returned for a new series on Monday, vowing to “start a new chapter”. She has previously apologised to staff after an internal review found “deficiencies related to the show’s day-to-day management”.Addressing a virtual audience in the studio and those watching at home, Ellen said in her opening monologue: “If you’re watching because you love me, thank you. If you’re watching because you don’t love me, welcome.”After joking she had had a “great, super terrific” summer, Ellen continued: “I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously and I want to say I am so sorry to the people that were affected.“I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power, and I realise that with that comes responsibility. I take responsibility for what happens at my show.“We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future, we have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter.”Of the claims she is not who she appears to be on TV, Ellen went on: “I am that person that you see on TV. I am also a lot of other things...“Being known as the ‘be kind lady’ is a tricky position to be in,” she said, describing herself as a “work in progress”. Claims of an alleged toxic work culture on the daytime talk show were made in a Buzzfeed News investigation earlier this year. The outlet spoke to former employees who made allegations of racism, unfair dismissal, intimidation and an overall toxic environment, perpetuated by the show’s senior producers.Ellen added: “My intention is always to be the best person I can be and if I’ve ever let someone down, if I’ve ever hurt their feelings, I am so sorry for that.“If that is ever the case I have let myself down and I’ve hurt myself as well because I always try to grow as a person.”Three of the show’s producers, Ed Glavin, Kevin Leman and Jonathan Norman, “parted ways” with the show last month, according to CNN. Ellen also apologised to staff in an email, saying: “As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. “That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”READ MORE: Ellen DeGeneres Apologises Following Reports Of A Toxic Culture On Her US Chat Show Ellen DeGeneres Show Under Investigation After Reports Of Workplace Misconduct Katy Perry Addresses Controversy Over Tweets In Support Of Ellen DeGeneres
On Wednesdays, we wear pink. On Fridays, we discuss Mariah Carey’s undying love for Mean Girls. The singer appeared on Billboard’s Quizzed video series alongside Tina Fey this week and the pair discussed the iconic 2004 film. In the video, Tina quizzes Mariah ― who she calls “the Michael Jordan of Mean Girls trivia” ― and Mariah nails it.In addition to knowing that Gretchen Weiner’s father invented Toaster Strudel and that Ms. Norbury teaches 12th-grade calculus, Mariah remembered small moments from the film like what band Cady Heron’s parents went to go see and the nutrition bars that Regina eats to “lose weight.” One of the highlights of the discussion came as Tina and Mariah recalled the scene when The Plastics perform Jingle Bell Rock for their annual talent show routine. “I’m a little bit disappointed they’re not dancing to my song, but Jingle Bell Rock is a bit older than All I Want For Christmas Is You, so that’s OK,” Mariah said.“We’re gonna make another movie of it, so if you want to license us that song for the movie and also be in the movie, just say nothing now and we’ll consider it legally binding. Just laugh and that’ll be legally binding,” Tina joked. We are so obsessed with @mariahcarey. https://t.co/MfqtBAQOmA— Mean Girls (@MeanGirls) September 10, 2020The 50-year-old Grammy winner then suggested she’d write a new Christmas song specifically for a sequel, which Tina emphatically supported.“I definitely want to be in it as well!” Mariah added. “I don’t know as who. Maybe I can be friends with Amy Poehler as, like, her other friend that wears sweatsuits.”As Gretchen would say: That’d be so fetch.READ MORE: Mariah Carey Reflects On 'Extremely Uncomfortable' Pregnancy Interview On Ellen DeGeneres' Show 21 Times Mariah Carey Almost Out Mariah-Careyed Herself Mariah Carey's Videos From Self-Isolation Are, Obviously, All Kinds Of Fabulous
By the time she stepped onto the red carpet at the VMAs in 2010, Lady Gaga was already one of the most recognisable people on the planet, famous for her show-stopping performances, outrageous interviews and game-changing pop tunes.Another reason Gaga was almost permanently in the headlines during that time was her outlandish fashion choices, and that year’s Video Music Awards saw her stepping out in what was probably her most iconic outfit to date... the meat dress. It’s now been 10 years since Gaga first donned the infamous dress, and it’s gone down in pop history as one of the most recognisable outfits of all time. But how much do we really know about the controversial ensemble that got the whole world talking? To mark the 10-year anniversary of Gaga’s meat dress, here are 15 facts about its history and its creation, as well as its legacy... 1. The dress was designed by Franc Fernandez, who has also worked with Scissor Sisters and BeyoncéBefore the meat dress took the world by storm, Franc’s biggest credit was designing one of the most famous outfits in Gaga’s Bad Romance music video – which she collected Video Of The Year for in 2010.2. Seriously, how much of it was actually made of meat? The whole thing. The dress, bag and even Gaga’s teenie little beret were all made from Argentinian beef, bought from the go-to butcher of Franc Fernandez (who originally hails from Argentina) in Los Angeles.3. Because of the material, there was no time for an actual fitting, so the first time Gaga put it on her body was actually at the VMAsFranc told HuffPost shortly after the VMAs: “We didn’t get a chance to have a fitting. The only time she had it on was for the VMAs. Only when I saw it in the monitor did I know it would be big.”In fact, Gaga didn’t even arrive at the event wearing the meat dress, but changed into it during the ceremony.4. Gaga’s intention behind the meat dress was to make a political statementThe meat dress was intended as Gaga’s protest against the US military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy on sexuality, which was still in effect in 2010. Prior to changing into the meat dress, the singer walked the red carpet with gay veterans as her guests. She later told Ellen DeGeneres: “If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and if we don’t fight for our rights... pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.”5. The meat dress got plenty of attention from the celebs in attendance at the VMAs that yearGaga collected her Video Of The Year award from Cher, commenting on stage: “I never thought I’d be asking Cher to hold my meat purse. We have to say, we’re big fans of this iconic photo of Gaga with a then-burgeoning Drake, in the audience, too. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) on Oct 16, 2019 at 3:02pm PDT6. The 2010 VMAs was a big night for Little Monsters – and not just because of the meat dressNot only did Gaga steal the show on the red carpet, Gaga took home eight awards on the night, for her Bad Romance and Telephone music videos, including the awards show’s top prize, Video Of The Year. After being awarded Video Of The Year, she announced her then-upcoming album would be called Born This Way, and performed a short – but still ever so slightly awkward – acapella blast of the title track during her acceptance speech.7. Yes, the dress did smell a bit“Gaga said it smelled good,” the designer told MTV. “It had a sweet smell.”Grim.He added: “It hadn’t been sitting out for more than five hours. And it’s not a heavy gross meat.” 8. The dress also had its own unusual method of transportation to keep it fresh“I had a little cooler that I carried it in,” Franc Fernandez later said. “Its own little coffin.”Franc said after the VMAs: “While it was being made it was refrigerated, [worked on] and then refrigerated [again]. It took a span of two days on and off. Maybe three with sourcing and getting materials and everything.”9. Gaga followed the VMAs by recording an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, still wearing the meat dressThis was only the second time that Gaga wore the meat dress, something which Ellen – a devout vegan – made no secret of her discomfort about. At the end of the interview, Ellen presented her guest with a bikini made out of vegetables, which curiously enough, we never actually saw Gaga trying on. 10. And unsurprisingly, the animal rights activists over at Peta were less than impressed with the meat dressThey said: “In her line of business, Lady Gaga has a hard time being ‘over the top’, and wearing a dress made from cuts of dead cows is offensive enough to bring comment, but someone should whisper in her ear that there are more people upset by butchery than impressed by it – and that means a lot of young people will not be buying her records if she keeps it up.“Meat is the decomposing flesh of an abused animal who didn’t want to die, and after being under the TV lights, it would smell like the rotting flesh that it is and likely be crawling with maggots – not too attractive, really.” 11. But despite Peta’s reaction, others were more taken with the meat dressTime magazine named it the best fashion statement of the year, while a poll from a UK fashion website named it the most iconic outfit of the year, beating Kate Middleton’s engagement dress.12. The meat dress wasn’t actually the first time Gaga had worn meatDays before walking the red carpet at the VMAs, Gaga unveiled her cover photo-shoot for Japanese Vogue, in which she was seen sporting a bikini made out of beef.13. And she revisited the look on the Born This Way Ball tourAlthough she’s not usually one for repeating herself, Gaga referenced the meat dress on her subsequent world tour, in support of her Born This Way album. This time around, though, her outfit was made of fabric that had been designed to look like meat, which we imagine was a lot easier than lugging a load of beef around the globe with her.  14. The question is, where is the meat dress now?Well, it’s in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, where it was added to the exhibit Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power, the year after it was first worn on the red carpet. It does look a little different to when it was first photographed, though. The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame paid a taxidermist $6000 (£4690) to preserve the dress… although it did have to be painted to look more like meat than what it actually is now… jerky. 15. And how do you top the biggest fashion moment of your career?A year after the meat dress, Gaga returned to the VMAs, where she was nominated for four awards, following the success of Born This Way.This time around, though, she took a rather different approach with her fashion, walking the red carpet as her male alter-ego, Jo Calderone. Jo was first seen in a Japanese Vogue Hommes shoot (published the same month as that meat bikini) and Gaga stayed in character the whole night, including when she presented Britney Spears with her Video Vanguard award.Gaga – or should we say Jo? – opened the show with a performance of her song Yoü And I, accompanied by Brian May on guitar.Take a look at Gaga in action in the meat dress in the gallery below:READ MORE: 10 Facts You Probably Never Knew About Lady Gaga's Bad Romance Lady Gaga And Ariana Grande Slay The VMAs Stage With Performance In Face Masks The Internet Is Having A Lot Of Fun With Memes Of Lady Gaga's Chromatica II/911 Transition

Mariah Carey has shared her thoughts on an interview she gave on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show 12 years ago, in which the singer was pressured into addressing a pregnancy that she had been trying to keep private. In 2008, Mariah was being interviewed on Ellen, when the conversation quickly turned to rumours at that time suggesting the chart-topping star was pregnant. While the We Belong Together singer urged Ellen to “not discuss that”, the host then brought out some champagne, encouraging Mariah to drink some, and claiming they should toast to “not being pregnant”.In fact, the star was in the early stages of a pregnancy at that time, but miscarried shortly after the interview took place. Since allegations of a “toxic workplace” behind the scenes of Ellen’s show have come to light, a number of past interviews have resurfaced on social media, including the Mariah appearance from 2008.Asked about the moment during a new interview with Vulture, Mariah revealed: “I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath.”Mariah added that she was deliberately trying not to speak about the pregnancy because of a previous miscarriage, stating: “I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.“[There’s] an empathy that can be applied to those moments that I would have liked to have been implemented. But what am I supposed to do?”Mariah became a mother in 2011, welcoming twins Moroccan and Monroe with then-husband Nick Cannon.Past Ellen interviews with Sofía Vergara have also come under scrutiny in recent times, though the Modern Family actor has insisted that she always felt like she was “in on the joke” whenever the presenter would poke fun at her.“Two comedians having fun with each other to entertain,” Sofía tweeted. “I was never a victim guys, I was always in on the joke.”READ MORE: Sofía Vergara Breaks Silence After Old Ellen DeGeneres Interviews Come Under Scrutiny Ellen DeGeneres Apologises Following Reports Of A Toxic Culture On Her US Chat Show Katy Perry Addresses Controversy Over Tweets In Support Of Ellen DeGeneres
