SAN JOSE -- In a major milestone to bringing Google Fiber to Silicon Valley, city leaders next week will sign off on the tech giant's construction plan to install fiber cables across San Jose -- a final step in launching the lightning-fast Internet service here.During construction, Google will also provide public outreach to communicate updates -- targeting areas with schools, hospitals, businesses, public transportation areas and event centers. The outreach will launch two to four weeks before construction begins.Google estimates 60 percent of its work will be underground while 40 percent will be aerial, using existing overhead utility poles for attachment of Fiber cables. The council will consider that agreement this summer.Follow her at Twitter.com/ramonagiwargis.

I'm talking about the possibility of a 3.5mm-less iPhone 7 and how Apple's move could signal a big change in the way manufacturers make headphones. But for everyone else, opting for the 3.5mm-only variation provides a comparably ho-hum experience that doesn't come close to justifying the slightly reduced $449 £399, AU$699 price tag.PerformanceIf you're an iPhone user, you should really be listening to the Sine through the Cipher Lightning cable, which features an amplifier, digital signal processor and digital to audio converter. It houses all of these components because the Lightning port bypasses the iPhone's default audio system, which means that the data coming out of the iPhone to the Sine hasn't yet been converted and processed. This is recommended, as it will keep the hardware up-to-date with the latest firmware and also because it lets you tune two equalizers to your taste. To get the best impression of what the Audeze Sine is capable of, you really should listen through the Cipher cable.

That s normally the sort of thing defense-minded types like to hear, but U.S. Air Force programs of the past few decades have a tendency to go completely off the rails.By promising everything, the F-35 was hobbled by expectations and snuffed out alternatives.Other stealth projects, from the F-22 to the F-35 to the Zumwalt, revealed the shapes of their vehicles, in concept and in prototype. The B-21, instead, exists in the public eye as only a shape under a sheet or a rough rendering with a striking similarity to the B-2.They assume a few major points: that nuclear-capable bombers are necessary, they there s a role for them in either conventional war or deterrence that isn t already provided by existing nuclear weapons and strike aircraft, and that the investment they require, as a highly advanced individual piece of technology, makes sense in the world of tomorrow. His work regularly appears at Popular Science, and he edits even nerdier stories at Grand Blog Tarkin.
