While the Nokia Lumia devices featuring Windows Phone can be considered a big flop the largest part of smartphone enthusiasts know that the handsets brought something that many envied, the Nokia Lumia Pro Camera. The Lumia Pro camera was miles ahead of the competition bringing some professional photography stuff like Manual Shutter and Focus, allowing an infinite set of possibilities for photo enthusiasts.Like mentioned before, the features introduced by the application were much more advanced than the ones offered by both Android and iOS solutions at the time. With the introduction of Nokia 7 Plus, one of the biggest Nokia traces from Lumia’s era was brought back, the Carl Zeiss lens.Thankfully, that isn’t the only thing being brought back from the dead as HMD has just announced that its Nokia Lumia Pro Camera App will be available to all Nokia devices with ZEISS optics, that includes the recently released Nokia 8 Sirocco.According to Juho Sarvikas, Chief Producer at HMD Global, the rollout of the application should occur in the coming days.
HMD Global announced some months ago that the Nokia 8 would eventually receive the so-called Nokia Pro Camera update containing a lot of specific improvements and the legendary camera application of Nokia’s Lumia era.Two weeks ago, the Finnish company announced that an update for the high-end Nokia 8 smartphone will be available very soon.According to a statement from the company, their engineers needed to “overhaul the entire imaging framework” in order to implement all the new features introduced by the Pro Camera update. So in order to bring the best for consumers, there took a very long time to develop the update.Today, after a long period of wait and high-expectation, HMD’s CPO Juho Sarvikas confirmed the Pro Camera mode will be available to all the Nokia 8 owners through an OTA update that is being rolled out, just now, around the globe.Since it is being delivered in a gradual form, it should take some time to arrive for all eligible devices, but at least it’s good to know that HMD is fulfilling its promise.
HMD Global has acquired the PureView trademark from Nokia and Microsoft.Nokia and Microsoft previously used the branding for phones with a great camera experience.HMD has previously acquired patents for classic designs and the Nokia Camera user-interface.HMD Global has steadily been grabbing Nokia‘s intellectual property, running the gamut from classic phone reboots to the Nokia Camera user-interface.Now, the company has reportedly acquired the PureView trademark from Nokia and Microsoft. As spotted by MSPowerUser and NokiaMob, a filing on the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) website shows that HMD now owns the PureView branding.
