Sony’s gaming division is continuing to drive major profits for the company even as the PlayStation 4 era winds down. The company announced PlayStation-related revenue of 507 billion yen (~$4.9 billion) and an operating profit of 105 billion yen (~$1 billion) for its July-September quarter, respective improvements of 52 and 40 percent on the same period a year ago.
With the PlayStation 5 set to launch in a couple of weeks, normally you’d expect a significant negative impact on Sony’s books for the previous quarter as the company ramps up manufacturing before it starts to bring in more revenue. Sony does say that its profits were hit by an increase in costs, while revenue was reduced by a predictable decrease in PS4 sales. Higher game...
Sony today announced that Destruction AllStars, originally intended to be a PlayStation 5 launch title, has instead been delayed. It’ll be released next February, where it’ll be free to PlayStation Plus subscribers for two months. Considering it’s news of yet another game delay, it’s a lot more positive than it sounds. Destruction AllStars, in case you weren’t aware, is a sort of G-rated Twisted Metal, in that involves driving a bunch of cars around an arena and smashing them into each other. The company revealed in a blog post just that it’d delayed the game. It didn’t say whether the game… This story continues at The Next WebOr just read more coverage about: Playstation
Today the PlayStation 5’s launch game lineup was thinned out a little bit, as Sony announced the delay of Destruction AllStars. The game has been delayed by a couple of months, meaning that we won’t see it release until we’re into 2021. While other PS5 launch titles have been getting the lion’s share of attention – Spider-Man: Miles Morales and … Continue reading
TLDR: The Complete Entertainment Bundle ft. PlayStation Plus brings together a dozen services, apps and streaming options so there’s always something good to watch. For years, consumers railed against cable providers, screaming that their monthly cable bills were ridiculously high. So when the streaming age finally dawned about a decade ago, many users were all too happy to cut the cable cord. But now with cable suffering huge subscriber losses, many of us are finding paying for all those streaming subscriptions isn’t really that much cheaper than cable. Once you add up your monthly bills from Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus,… This story continues at The Next Web

The "overwhelming majority" of PlayStation 4 games will run on PlayStation 5, and some are getting improved by the more powerful next-gen console.
Ahead of the PlayStation 5’s launch next month, Sony is reportedly making some big changes to the way the PlayStation Store works. Apparently, the company has been sending out emails to developers saying that later this month, games for the PlayStation 3, PSP, and PlayStation Vita will be inaccessible through the PlayStation Store for web and mobile. Just as well, … Continue reading
The PlayStation 5 offers backwards compatibility for the existing PlayStation 4 lineup of games, meaning you’ll be able to play almost any PS4 game you already own on the new console. Some games will also offer the option to upgrade to a proper PS5-optimized next-gen title, like Cyberpunk 2077 or Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
Here’s how to get started:
How to play backwards compatible PlayStation 4 games
The PS5 will be able to play nearly every PS4 game that’s available through backwards compatibility. Sony also promises that some games will actually be able to take advantage of the extra power on the new console to provide a “Game Boost” for faster or smoother frame rates. That said, Sony also warns that some functionality from PS4...

PlayStation Trophies have been around since the days of the PlayStation 3, and for the most part, they’ve remained unchanged all this time. That’s changing later today, as Sony will be rolling out some update to the trophy system ahead of next month’s launch of the PlayStation 5. The changes aren’t huge by any means, as they mostly focus on … Continue reading
It’s very nearly October, and that means we’re about to see a refresh of the free games offered through PlayStation Plus. Sony saved this month’s reveal for the very last minute – while it usually reveals new PlayStation Plus games a few days before the end of the month, it’s only now revealing October’s games on the day before the … Continue reading
