Gamer Shane Birkinbine asked his girlfriend to marry him with a little help from Italian plumber Super Mario.Pam can be seen collecting coins, hitting blocks and jumping across moving platforms before the question comes into view. But Shane s gf is so focused on the game she almost doesn t notice it.Luckily he was on hand to help her figure it out.Pam was amazed even that he had managed to make her name, exclaiming: How did you do that?Luckily for the Super Mario fan she said yes, of course before finishing the game.

Desperate to play Super Mario Maker but can t bring yourself to buying a Wii U for just a single game?Based on the success of Nintendo s latest console, you re not alone. There s a cheaper solution, though, with this set of Super Mario Bros fridge magnets. Why cover your fridge with snippets of terrible beatnik poetry when you can instead turn it into a giant Mario Bros level complete with coin blocks, goombas, pipes, and a plumber? For just $10 it s also a great way to camouflage stains or dents on the well-used appliance that came with your apartment.
DuskersMisfits Attic4 starsThe last man on earth/in the universe trope is a well-worn one in the gaming world, and countless releases over the years have mined its depths.Available for PC, Mac and Linux, Duskers comes from developer Misfits Attic, best known for cult plumber puzzler A Virus Named TOM, and takes things to the next level by paring the concept down to a low-budget sci-fi/horror approach. When they find something – and trust me, they will – the video cuts out and ambient sounds creep all about, as things take a turn for the Alien.Risk near-certain death and the end of the species by fighting them off, or run for it and lose a drone. It s a challenging conundrum, one made harder considering your only interface is a basic command line which accepts programming-like language. It s a range of reactions that could only happen through the imagination and endless creativity of an indie developer, and we wouldn t have it any other way.
GIFYou probably never stop to think about just how nightmarish the Mushroom Kingdom is while playing any of the Super Mario games. But this real-life version of Super Mario Maker really puts things into perspective. If this is what a plumber s life really is like, it s far more intense than just fixing pipes and unclogging drains.
Nintendo has revealed that the world s favourite money-chasing plumber is in line for a few changes in an agonisingly teasing interview with IGN.The gaming giant hasn t let any specifics slip out of its bag of tricks, but says it hopes to show off something new and hopefully exciting for the right reasons at E3 2017."We're always challenging ourselves to create something new, so hopefully you'll see a new kind of Mario in about a year or two," said Mario s father Shigeru Miyamoto.Miyamoto is fully aware of Mario s universal appeal, and has tried to reassure fans by saying he plans to proceed with caution."It's kind of difficult with Mario because some of the more important conventions of Mario are based on the approachability and accessibility of those games."Hitting the right notes with Mario would be the perfect start for the mysterious console, and could help lift serious pressure off the company's shoulders.

Many would argue that some plumber s side-scrolling, mushroom-eating adventures laid much of the groundwork, but no other game before it had explored the vast possibilities of a virtual world: fantasy realms, fascinating characters and massive maps to explore.Just look at Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim, a blatant rip-off of the pioneering franchise, with a few touches of the more modern Dark Souls thrown in.You re given the ability to journey to various neighbouring islands and, to be fair, the game starts off decently, with the freedom to explore and create, and initially involving tasks pulling you into this Zelda-like world.Honestly, Dark Souls is a terribly hard game to replicate – it s not all about dungeons and difficult challenges; the series has mastered its control, combat and countering systems, and Cornerstone largely ignores those aspects. It s often a struggle to move Tyrim at all, and without having to suffer the consequence of death, the game quickly descends into mindless hack-and-slash monotony with little reward.Cornerstone started its life as a Kickstarter project, and we can imagine the sneaky coffee-shop meeting before they unleashed it on unsuspecting fans: Let s slap together two much-loved franchises, one classic and one modern, give little thought to the actual gameplay and watch the cash roll in.
After 45 minutes on the phone with a travel agent, I ve grown too frustrated with trying to figure out different alternatives for an international flight to the Maldives that stops in Paris on the way back.In comparison, the lack of training, standardization and process in Brazil creates chronic inefficiencies in the service sector that push consumers to prefer and use mobile applications that provide everyday services in a standardized manner.Brazil leads O2O commerce sector growth in Latin AmericaIntense traffic in big metropolitan areas have helped create a new market for on-demand delivery by couriers on motor bikes.Whoever loves dogs with available time can apply to become a DogHero host for man s best friends.Delivery person salaries, for example, are much lower in Brazil. But be sure: the eServices revolution is coming soon for your plumber, your babysitter and your bank manager.
On March 3, 1991, after a drunken high-speed chase, Rodney King was pulled over by the Los Angeles Police Department and savagely beaten. The arresting police officers tasered King twice and clubbed the African-American man countless times with their batons, employing a striking technique called   power strokes. The incident was videotaped by a plumber, George Holliday, who used a camcorder as he watched from the balcony of his apartment. The video was broadcast around the world and played a central role in the prosecution of the police officers involved. While the LAPD officers were ultimately acquitted, the King video served to raise public awareness of racism within the LAPD and civil rights violations by law enforcement.International pop star Peter Gabriel watched the King tape and immediately understood the galvanizing power of video. The following year, he cofounded WITNESS, an organization that distributes video cameras and provides training to help individuals document human rights abuses worldwide.
It was around 2 p.m. on August 16, 1969, and the members of this young group weren t quite sure if they could overcome equipment problems, mounting nerves, and the very distinct possibility of peaking too early on ingested substances to be able to deliver the goods for an audience about 400,000 strong. If you were there, you had a career, keyboardist/vocalist Gregg Rolie told Digital Trends. The visionary guitarist Carlos Santana himself admitted, At Woodstock, I had to trust that I could find a way through all the layers and vortexes of psychedelic colors and madness around us.Everything I did onstage that day centered around that. The triumphant collective was able to soldier on together in simpatico for a few more years, creating some masterpieces along the way, including worldly wise tracks like Oye Como Va and Black Magic Woman, before inevitably splintering.Sometimes, however, band chemistry has a way of rearing its head again sooner or later — albeit very much later, in this case — but that s how Santana IV came to be, an album that brings together musicians who hadn t played together for 45 years.
Fresh of the hit that was the Super Mario Bros. franchise, Nintendo figured the obvious follow-up to a game about a chubby plumber was one that featured the likes of baby Jesus, Hitler and the KKK.The game, Time Twist, isn t exactly the family friendly faire Nintendo is known for making in 2016.Maybe that s why it was only released on the Famicom Disk System in Japan.Hardcore gaming played through it recently and noted it seems like Time Twist took a look at Nintendo of America s censorship rules and set out to create a game that broke each and every one of them. From the screenshots, that assessment appears accurate.Just wholesome family fun, right?
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was teased with Super Mario and other Japanese pop-culture characters. The Rio 2016 Olympic Games came to a close in a spectacular, carnival-like display on 21 August, as the Olympic flag was passed from Brazil to the bustling Japanese capital of Tokyo for the 2020 Games.Obviously keen not to miss the festivities, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe made the 15,000-mile journey with a little help from a rather famous video game plumber. In a brief animated video clip embedded below that celebrated Japan's cartoon heroes as much as it did its athletes, Abe was seen morphing into Nintendo's portly mascot, Super Mario. With a red ball in hand – symbolising the Japanese flag – Abe hopped into a green warp pipe handily delivered by the robotic cat Doraemon, one of Japan's most beloved manga and anime characters. After hurtling at high speed through the centre of the Earth, Abe emerged out of a real warp pipe on the Rio 2016 stage, all while wearing Mario's iconic cap and overalls.
The Games of the XXXI Olympiad officially wrapped up in Rio last night. As is customary during the closing ceremony, this year s host site handed the Games off to the next host in grand fashion which just so happens to be Tokyo, the capital of Japan. With the world watching, Japan made the most of the opportunity and recruited a few familiar faces to lend a hand.A promotional video that played during the ceremony was filled to the brim with Japanese culture, showcasing some of the country s top athletes and sports. It didn t end there as pop culture icons including Pac-Man, Hello Kitty and Doraemon were also featured prominently in the video. What really got the crowd going, however, was an appearance by everyone s favorite plumber.
No Man's Sky offers players an unimaginably vast, procedurally generated infinite universe to explore.Classic Super Mario games offer surprisingly challenging platforming through intricately designed 2D worlds which require precision and skill. The two gameplay styles are totally incompatible - right? Not according to the four Melbourne-based developers who just released No Mario's Sky, an indie homage that serves as possibly gaming's weirdest mix-tape.Developed by Ben Porter, Max Cahill, Alex Mc, and Sam Izzo, No Mario's Sky is described as: "Featuring 1,000s of Goombas, an infinite universe, Muscle Toad, 'original' music, 'faithful' physics, social commentary about interplanetary colonialism, and a radical space ship; No Mario's Sky is the hackneyed remake-gone-mashup you've been craving."Like the Mario games that graced the NES and SNES, everyone's favourite plumber hops around colourful, brick-filled worlds, stomping on enemy Goombas in search of Princess Peach.
It s time for the mashups.Developer ASMB Games has mixed Mario into No Man s Sky to create No Mario s Sky.This is a 2D, sidescrolling exploration game that has Nintendo s plumber collecting coins, stomping on goombas, and flying to other planets.Like developer Hello Games space-exploration game No Man s Sky, No Mario s Sky uses procedural generation to build its endless content. This means you ll find infinite planets populated by a thousand variations of Goombas. And also like No Man s Sky, you won t find much else to do beyond jumping from planet to planet. The game is available now for free on Itch.io.You can play it on Windows, Linux, or Mac, since it runs on the Unity game engine.
Now that "No Man's Sky" has been out for a few weeks, you might have already run your course with Hello Games's procedurally-generated spacefaring adventure.Maybe you're bored of mining planets for minerals or running out of starship fuel.Maybe you also just happen to love Mario, Nintendo's Italian plumber mascot who's starred in every kind of game under the sun.Luckily, there's now a game just for you!"No Mario's Sky" is a fan creation from ASMB Games that blends the bleak infinity of space with the platforming action of "Super Mario Bros." Created in just 72 hours, it's actually pretty cool! You can download the game for free here, which you might want to do quickly before Nintendo shuts it down. Here's how my journey with the game went: View As:
A small team of Australian developers have combined No Man's Sky with Super Mario to create a fun, side-scrolling game called No Mario's SkyA team of four Melbourne-based developers have combined Hello Games' massively ambitious, procedurally generated space exploration game No Man's Sky with classic Super Mario gameplay to create a unique, indie mashup called No Mario's Sky.Described as "your run of the mill mario-explores-the-universe game", the 2D, side-scroller was developed by ASMB games in just 72 hours for the ancient technology-themed game jam Ludum Dare 36.Featuring "1000s of Goombas, an infinite universe, Muscle Toad, 'original' music, 'faithful' physics, social commentary about interplanetary colonialism, and a radical space ship", the game puts players in charge of the beloved Italian plumber as he explores colourful planets and discovers different species of Goomba while trying to find Princess Peach who is apparently "on another planet".Developed by Ben Porter, Alex Mc, Sam Izzo and Cahill, No Mario's Sky is the "hackneyed remake-gone-mashup you've been craving."However, it is likely that Nintendo will intervene and have the game removed, given how protective it is over its properties.
