Seemingly not content with The Division's online dominance and record-breaking sales figures, the French publisher's 'Motion Pictures' wing is currently in search of a writer to adapt the dystopian shooter for the silver screen. The report, based on Variety sources, notes that Ubisoft has yet to approach distributors with its big-screen plans for The Division and will possibly hold off until another actor is cast. The PS4, Xbox One and PC title depicts the aftermath of a viral pandemic in the guerrilla-war-torn streets of Manhattan. As a sleeper agent within the titular 'Division', the player joins an emergency task force designed to nullify rioters and gangs while investigating the origin of the outbreak. In reality though, it's mainly about shooting people in the face and hoarding rare loot for online supremacy, especially in the don't-trust-anyone 'Dark Zone' where players can 'go rogue' for spoils at the expense of their would-be teammates.Should The Division movie come to fruition it would mark another landmark in Ubisoft's ongoing film production schedule, with the mega-budget, Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin's Creed adaptation set to hit theatres in November and a Splinter Cell movie also in pre-production with Tom Hardy attached in a lead role.
Ubisoft s post-apocalyptic multiplayer adventure game Tom Clancy s The Division is already a blockbuster success in the gaming world, and now the upcoming movie based on the game has found itself a high-profile producer and star.Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal has reportedly agreed to produce and star in a movie based on the hit game, which was released in March 2016 and went on to break the record for first-week sales of a new game franchise with a $330 million global haul. There s currently no writer attached to the adaptation and no timetable for it go into production, but Gyllenhaal s involvement will likely give the project quite a bit of momentum in this early stage of development.Assassin s Creed hits theaters later this year with Michael Fassbender in the lead role, and Tom Hardy will star in the upcoming Splinter Cell movie based on the game franchise of the same name.Launched on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC earlier this year, The Division is set in the aftermath of a deadly pandemic that has turned New York City into an urban wasteland, with many of the city s basic services failing and access to food and water dwindling.Players take the role of a special agent in the fictional Strategic Homeland Division of the title, and are tasked with assisting in efforts to restore city services, deal with criminal elements, and investigate the source of the epidemic.

We ve seen the debut of The Angry Birds Movie which has generated $312 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo and Warcraft which has hit $286 million worldwide .Assassin s Creed debuts on Dec. 21, and the French game publisher hopes the new movie will get a huge benefit from the fans of the video game franchise, which has sold more than 96 million units to date.Stephanie Simard, vice president of global marketing at Ubisoft Motion Pictures, said in a press event that the company s trailer for the movies has already gotten more than 175 million views in just a month. You don t need pre-existing knowledge of Assassin s Creed to enjoy it, but we want to take our fans with us on the ride every step of the way, Simard said.Simard said that Hollywood s love affair with games is happening again because games have changed and become a great foundation for epic storytelling.Ubisoft wants to focus on quality and consistency, Simard said.Assassin s Creed will have a combination of unique mythology, historical intrigue, the theme of free will versus control, secret societies, and genetic memories. For this movie, Ubisoft partnered with Partners Regency, 20th Century Fox, and Ratpac Entertainment.Michael Fassbender was our first and only choice to play the hero, Simard said. The film s costume designer is Sammy Sheldon, who worked on Ex Machina and Ant-Man.Walters jumped off a120-feet building for one of the stunts in the trailer — with no net.Ubisoft is also making a Rabbids TV show, a Tom Clancy s Splinter Cell movie with Tom Hardy, a Watch Dogs movie with Sony, a Ghost Recon movie with Warner Bros., and a film version of Tom Clancy s The Division.Ubisoft previously had its Prince of Persia franchise turned into a 2010 film, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, distributed by Disney s Buena Vista division .
Ubisoft and Sony revealed today during Ubisoft s Electronic Entertainment Expo today in Los Angeles that Watch Dogs will become a movie.Ubisoft has another franchise, Assassin s Creed, that s getting a film later this year.We don t know if the Watch Dogs movie will follow the plot of the first or second game, or if like the Assassin s Creed film it s a story based on the franchise but not directly taken from any game. The announcement came after a lengthy demo for Watch Dogs 2.Movies based on video games typically have a bad reputation when it comes to quality and making money. However, this year s Angry Birds and Warcraft films have been able to make an impact at the box office, especially in international markets.Previously, Ubisoft previously saw one of its other franchises, The Prince of Persia, become a bomb when Disney turned it into a movie.Ubisoft seems intent on branching its properties out into film and other media. The Rabbids have a TV show, Warner Bros. is making a Ghost Recon movie, Tom Hardy is set to star in a Splinter Cell film, and the recent multiplayer hit The Division is also going to Hollywood.
Sure, this BBC show smells like Boardwalk Empire from Over There, but it tastes just as good as—if not better than—the pulpy gangster series that came before it.Set in the 1910s and 20s, Peaky Blinders traces its eponymous Birmingham, England street gang from ragtag to big time while also following the evolution and/or devolution of the Shelby family that runs it: Tommy played by Cillian Murphy , the moody, merciless head of the family; Arthur Paul Anderson , the unhinged older brother with a cocaine habit and the worst undercut outside of Williamsburg; Ada Sophie Rundle , their sister who falls in love with a communist on the run; and Aunt Polly, the matriarch of the family, magnificently played by Helen McCrory. The boys have just returned from the trenches of World War I, and are suffering their way through recovery: flashbacks, addictions to their drug-of-choice, and lots of unnecessary violence.Although the series is about the entire Shelby mob, Peaky Blinders best moments come when Tommy s gloriously quiet swagger is matched up against his milieu of adversaries: morally rigid Major Campbell; the mercurial Italian gangster Darby Sabini Noah Taylor ; the sneering baker and bootlegger from Camdentown, Alfie Solomons a terrifying Tom Hardy ; the delightfully irate horse race fixer Billy Kimber Charlie Creed-Miles ; the outcast Russian oligarch Grand Duke Leon Petrovna Jan Bijvoet ; and the scariest of them all: the sinister, somber priest Father Hughes Paddy Considine .Over the course of the three seasons, you get to watch the Peaky Blinders transform from street gang to semi-legitimate business to the criminal enterprise running southern England—all against a backdrop of campy period detail, set to a soundtrack that includes Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, and Tom Waits. You watch Peaky Blinders largely for the visuals, rather than the plot: much of the show s appeal lies in the scenes of dimly lit Birmingham alleys and Tommy Shelby s hard-jawed blue-eyed stare.
Jessica Chastain is the latest star in talks to appear in the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Ubisoft s The Division. She would join Jake Gyllenhaal, who boarded the project in June.Chastain is known for her dramatic work, including her Oscar-nominated performance in The Help, but has also appeared in genre pictures like Interstellar and The Martian. Her starring role in 2012 s Zero Dark Thirty was a major breakthrough for her Hollywood career, and may have served to recommend her for the part in The Division. It s currently unclear just how closely the movie adaptation will adhere to the game s plot.It s possible that Chastain could play a character inspired by injured agent Faye Lau, but there s a good chance that the film will stray farther from its source material, in the vein of the upcoming Assassin s Creed movie.

This week, the world of superhero movies seems to be pondering roads not taken: What if Suicide Squad had a little LaBeouf?Oh, and it turns out that Jason Momoa is ready to take up the mantle of as many comic book heroes as possible. That character and Tom Hardy s character later played by Joel Kinnaman got written down to build Will up, he explained, adding, I don t think Warner Bros. wanted me.SUPER IDEA: Finding the One Actor Who Isn t Looking for a Superhero Property to Boost His CareerSomething that s been talked about a lot over the last couple of years is just when Mel Gibson s superhero-assisted revival will happen. In a recent interview with Deadline, Gibson railed against the genre, calling Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice a piece of shit, adding I m not interested in the stuff.

Now that Rogue One: A Star Wars story is upon us, many eager film fans are looking ahead to 2017.And the title at the top of many lists?A poster for the film was released last week, and the latest trailer reveals more about the Batman director's take on the infamous world war two battle. In the poster, a soldier is pictured from behind looking on at the battle above the tagline: "The event that shaped our world."Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces.Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face a seemingly impossible situation as the enemy closes in.
The first extended trailer for writer-director Christopher Nolan s World War II epic Dunkirk has arrived, and—as with so many of Nolan s films—it promises no shortage of drama, derring-do, and more than a few dark nights.Based on the infamous 1940 Dunkirk evacuation, in which more than 300,000 Allied soldiers were rescued a Nazi offensive in little more than a week, the film stars previous Nolan collaborators Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy, as well as Kenneth Branagh and recent Oscar winner Mark Rylance.Based on the first glimpse, expect plenty of battles by land and by sea, as well as lots of shots of well-respected English actors staring forlornly at the sky.We ll see what they see when Dunkirk opens July 21st.
Christopher Nolan, the filmmaker responsible for Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy, and other moody adventures in recent years, is no stranger to gritty drama, and in the upcoming film Dunkirk, he finds inspiration in a very real — and heart-wrenching — event in world history: The 1940 evacuation of Dunkirk during World War II.Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for the film, which dramatizes the miraculous evacuation of more than 330,000 Allied soldiers from the beach and harbor of Dunkirk, France, after they were surrounded by German forces during the Battle of France.Directed by Nolan from his own script, Dunkirk tells the story of the events that transpired between May 26 and June 4, 1940, as hundreds of thousands of troops found themselves trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea.Initially deemed a lost cause, their eventual rescue despite the presence of enemy forces on all sides was deemed a miracle of deliverance by Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister at the time. The main cast of Dunkirk primarily features Hollywood newcomers, including Fionn Whitehead Him , Jack Lowden 71 , Aneurin Barnard Citadel , and One Direction band member Harry Styles. The supporting cast, however, features quite a few familiar faces, including Academy Award winner Mark Rylance Bridge of Spies , Kenneth Branagh Valkyrie , Cillian Murphy Inception , James D Arcy Cloud Atlas , and Tom Hardy The Revenant .
It s one thing to take time to work on issues that make dating more difficult, but what if those issues are out of your control?I m fairly good looking and mostly fit, but I keep getting turned down by women.I haven t had a date in years and it s not for a lack of trying.Let s start with dispensing with the idea that short guys are unattractive or undesirable.Course, I d like to see someone tell Tom Hardy or Jason Statham 5 9 each that they re not masculine enough… As a result, women who have very stringent ideas of gender roles will tend to prefer taller guys.
Even with plenty of investment and an untapped market niche, it's hard to make an impact in today's crowded smartphone worldProving that making an impact in the smartphone world is really difficult today, even with plenty of investment and an apparently underserved niche audience, Sirin Labs — makers of the massively expensive Solarin phone — has decided to investigate other projects, and made 30 of its staff redundant. The Solarin phone was launched almost a year ago, at an event attended by celebrities including (briefly, and almost incognito), Tom Hardy and Leonardo DiCaprio, and was marketed as a super secure, unhackable smartphone for the super rich.Naturally, it wasn’t a phone for everyone, and fewer than 750 devices have been sold since, a figure based on numbers quoted to Techcrunch. While the Solarin was technically impressive, there were many question marks over just how secure the device really was, its ultimate usefulness when used to communicate with other devices, and how much the extra services would end up costing. The phone was sold through Sirin Labs own boutique store in London, in the Harrods department store, and online.
A moped thief who ran a red light on the stolen vehicle before crashing into someone's Mercedes presumably got the shock of his life when Tom actual Hardy pelted after him, scaling garden walls and a building site before catching the scoundrel and handing him to police. The Sun reports that the actor witnessed the crash in Richmond, South London, where he lives and "went into superhero mode."However, we've only got bystanders' word for it that it was the Taboo star – the man himself has not commented to confirm or deny.Apparently, Hardy legged it after the thief – one of two on the moped when it crashed – through an "assault course" of scenery before giving him a pat-down at a bus stop. The other suspect was apprehended almost immediately, and both were injured when they were picked up by police. They're now apparently facing theft charges.
p It’s no secret that Hollywood prefers reboots with baked in audiences to the unknown entity of original scripts these days. While we don’t begrudge them their concern over the all-important bottom line, we can’t help but itch for something a little more … original. There are a lot of creative people out there with awesome ideas, and for proof of that, look no further than Reddit’s r/WritingPrompts.The subreddit encourages budding writers to take a crack at writing flash fiction, short stories, and occasionally, full-length novels based on user-submitted prompts. In a quick skim of the top prompts, you’ll find dozens of ideas that are just begging to be Hollywood scripts, so we decided to have a little fun and imagine what films based off of these prompts might look like. For each entry we’ve listed our choice for a director and lead cast, and created a basic synopsis that sets forth our vision for these could-be films.
