Objective:The GIS database being developed by individual departments or their allied offices are not based on standard formats/models.
Thus such databases cannot be integrated in a Single Geo-spatial database. The satellite images not centrally procured, not available in a common Spatial referencing scheme and not stored on a single server on sharing basis.Owing to above, there is a need to create a standard procedure for acquisition, processing, and dissemination of Geo-spatial database, based on the National/ International standards (ISO) for Geo-spatial database.
Client: Maharashtra State Remote Sensing Application Centre (MRSAC) Major Activities:Acquisition of High resolution Stereo satellite data for entire stateCreation of primary and secondary DGPS networkPhotogrammetry services for creation of Ortho-photosCreation of Base layersSuperimposition of ancillary layers as per requirement of state departmentsApplication developmentUpdating of satellite imageryfor 3 years for change detection analysis Benefits to Client:It leads to creation of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for the Maharashtra state. It will enable the State Government to create a base data on which inter departmental applications can be built. It will ensure to avoid data duplication, cost duplication and data mismatch etc.Maintaining of the common database is easier and efficient than the fragmented data. The single and integrated base data acts as a Decision Support System for the Government.
