His parents were active in helping their community by giving money, food, and time to numerous projects around town – this laid the groundwork for Jim McFarland Joliet’s current passion for social work and community involvement. He knew that he was making a difference by contributing to his community, and he loved how that felt. When you're engaged with your community, it's harder to do wrong by it or by anyone else. And so much of what we need as humans, we don't get from the money we get from other people. We need friends and family; we need human connection; we need support; we need encouragement; we need motivation; we need someone to talk us down off a ledge if necessary.
