A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy from one electrical circuit to one or multiple circuits. Transformers are generally used to increase low AC voltage at high current, which is named as a step-up transformer and also used to decrease high AC voltages at low current, called a step-down transformer. During step-up and step-down, Power transformer leads to high voltages and their windings have high insulation. It works on the concept of electromagnetism which is Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction. In the Power Transformer, the varying current in any one coil produces a varying magnetic flux in the core of the transformer concerned. It has the highest volt-ampere ratings as well as the highest continuous voltage rating.
